2 Connecting your TV Connecting y our T V If you haven ’ t connected electronic equipment before, or you have been frustrated in the past, you may wish to read this section. (Cables are not supplied.) • A coaxial cable is the standard cable that comes in fr om your antenna or cable converter box.

8 Using the Remote Control T o control a cable TV converter: P rogram the remote control to recognize the brand of y our converter (see “ Pr ogramming the remote control for use with a VCR or cable TV converter , ” below). The shaded buttons shown on the right will control the cable TV converter .

14 Setting up your TV T o select the antenna input: 1. Pr ess the ANT/VIDEO button. The signal source you are connected to is displayed in purple. 22 Using the TV ’ s Featur es 8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 to block other channels. When y ou are finished blocking channels, press EXIT to return to normal viewing. If you try to display a blocked channel, the TV will not display it, but will display the nearest unblocked channel.

A caption is a printed version of the dialogue, narration and/or sound effects of a TV program.
30 Using the TV ’ s Featur es Adjusting the sound Muting the sound P ress MUTE to temporarily turn off the sound. While the sound is off, the scr een will display the word MUTE in the lower right-hand corner . T o restore the sound, press MUTE again.

32 Using the TV ’ s Featur es T o turn off the surround sound feature: Choose OFF in step 4 abov e. In general, you should leave your TV set to SURR OUND so it can automatically produce surround ster eo or monaural sound, depending on the broadcast type.

If you select this mode, the TV will demonstrate several of the TV ’ s features.
