2 TABLE OF CONTENTS FINDING MODEL NUMBER This Operator’s Ma nual is an important part of your new lawn tractor. It will help you assemble, pr epare and maintain the unit for best performance.
3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES WARNING: This symbol points out import ant safety instructions which, if not followed, could endanger the personal safe ty and/or property of yourself and others. Read and follow all instruct ions in this manual before attemptin g to operate this machine.

5 CHILDREN 1. Tragic a ccidents c an occur if the oper ator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are often attracted to the ma chine and the mowing activity . They do not under stand the dangers. Never assume that children will remain where you last saw them.
6 GENERAL SERVICE: 1. Never run an engine indoors or in a poor ly ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless, and de adly gas. 2. Before cleaning, repair ing, or inspecting, make certain the blade( s) and all moving parts have stopped.
7 SECTION 2: SAFETY LABELS Safety labels found on your lawn trac tor are illustrated below (3/4 actual size ). Always follow thei r instructions and head their warnings. The label part number is listed below each. If you discover a safety label is scratched , damaged or missing, order a replacement immediately.

10 SECTION 5: TRACTOR SET-UP Gas and Oil Fill-up Use only clean, fresh (under 30 da ys old), unleaded gasoline. Fill tank to no more than 1/2 inch below the top of the filler neck to allo w space for fuel expansion. WARNING: Use extreme ca re when handling gasoline.
11 • Make certain the hold-down rod is in position over the batter y, securing it in place. See Figure 2 . Figure 2 NOTE: If the battery is put in to service after the date shown on top of batter y, charge the battery as instructed on page 26 of this manual prio r to operating the tractor.

13 Thro tt l e C on t rol The throttle co ntrol lever is located on the left side of the tractor’s dash panel. This lever controls the spee d of the engine.
14 Systems Indicator Monitor / Hour Meter LCD Located in the center of the tra ctor’s cons ole, the systems indicator monitor reco rds, and displays on its LCD, hours of trac tor operati on whenever the ign ition key is rotated out of the STOP po sition.
15 SECTION 7: OPERATING YOUR LAWN TRACTOR Safety Interlock System This tractor is equipped with a safet y interlock system for the protection of the ope rator. Before each use, check the safety interlock system f or proper operation. If the interlock system should ever malfunction, do not operate the t ractor.
16 Starting the Engine WARNING: Do not operate th e tractor if the interlock system is malfunctioning. This system was designed f or your saf ety and protection. NOTE: Refer to th e TRACTOR SET-UP on page 1 0 of this manual for Gasolin e and Oil fill-up instructions.
17 Setting The Cruise Contr ol NOTE: The cruise contro l feature should only be utilized while traveling in the forward direction. • Slowly depress th e drive pedal until the desired speed is achieved.
18 SECTION 8: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Ne ver atte mpt to make an y adjustments while the engine is running, Leveling the Deck NOTE: Check the tractor’ s tire pressure before performing any de ck leveling adjustments. Refer to Tires on page 25 for informati on regarding tire pressure.
19 P arking Brake Adjustment WARNING: Never attempt to a djust the brakes while the engin e is running. Always disengage PTO, mov e shift le ver into neutral position, stop engine and remove key to prevent unint ended starting.
20 Seat Adjustment To adjust the position of the seat, loosen the two knobs on the bottom of the seat. See Figure 12. Slide the sea t forward or rearward as desired.
21 SECTION 9: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN TRACTOR NOTE: Refer to Maintenance Chart on page 29 for a reference of recommend ed maintenance intervals. WARNING: Before performing any maintenance or rep airs, disengage PTO, set parking brake, st op engine and remove key t o prevent unint ended starting.
22 IMPORT ANT : The engine may overheat and/or damage may result if the oil level is below the ADD or over the FULL on the dipstick. • Reinstall the oil fill cap/dips tick securely onto the oil fill tube. IMPORT ANT : The oil fill cap/dip sti ck must be installed securely onto the tube at all ti mes when the engine is operating .

Severe engine damage could result from a failure to do so. • Start the tractor engine and allow it to run fo r thirty seconds, then stop the eng ine and remove the ignition key.
24 • Check the gap using a feeler gauge and adjust, if necessary, by carefully bending th e ground electrode. See Figu re 14. Set the spark plug gap to .76 mm (0.030 in.). Figure 14 • Reinstall the spark plug into th e cylinder head. Torque the spark plug to 28/3 2 ft.
25 SECTION 10: SERVICE WARNING: Before servicing, repairing, or inspecti ng, always d isengage PTO, se t parking brake, st op engine and remove key t o prevent unint ended starting. Tire s WARNING: Never exceed the maxim um inflation pressure sh own on the sidewall of the tire.
26 IMPORT ANT : When replacing the bla de, be sure to install the blade with th e side of the blade marked ‘‘Bottom’’ (or with a part number stamped in it ) facing the ground wh en the mower is in the op erating position. IMPORT ANT : Use a torque wrench to tighten the blade spindle hex flange nut to be tween 70 lbs-ft.
27 • Gently slide the cu tting deck toward the front of the tractor allow ing the hoo ks on th e deck to re lease themselves from the deck stabilizer rod.
28 SECTION 11: OFF-SEASON STORAGE Clean and lubricate the tr actor as instructed in Section 7: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN TRACTOR on page 21 of this manual before sto ring for an extended period. Engine If the engine will be out of service for tw o months or more, use the followin g storage procedure: • Clean the exterior surfaces of the engine.
