This camera is designed to rec ord animal activity in the outdoors with its still image and movie modes and weatherproof , rugged construction. 8 BA T TERY and SD CARD INST ALL A TION Y our T asco Digital T rail Camera is designed to operate using 4 AA ba tteries. W e recommend using Lithium (for longest life) or Alkaline batteries. NO TE: Always set the power switch to the OFF position when installing or removing batteries.
9 ABOUT THE SETUP MENU Slide the power switch to the On position. Y ou’ll see “ W AIT ” on the display , then the setup menu screen. Before y ou star t using the camera, you ’ll no doubt want .
10 Menu Item Settings (Bold=default) Description/Operation Date set year , month, and day Press OK and use the UP/DO WN keys (to change the setting), then press OK again to go to the next date parameter and repea t, to set the current year , month, and day .

12 When you ’ve nished using the Setup Menu, and are ready to r eturn the camera to normal operating mode, so it will beg in to capture photos or videos for you, simply pr ess the Setup button. After you exit the Setup Menu, the display will go blank and the camera is in “sleep ” mode.

14 VIEWING THE PHOT OS and VIDEOS After your camera has been operating f or awhile, you will of course w ant to review the photos and/or videos it has been capturing . T his can be done by either of two methods, accor ding to your pref erence or the availability of accessory equipment: Using an SD Card Reader 1.
15 PIR ( Passiv e Infrared Sensor): Senses motion like a typical securit y motion detector . R equires infrared ener gy (heat) in addition to motion to trigger the sensor to help limit detection to live subjects (rather than leav es, etc). 17 Battery life is shorter than expected 1. Battery life will vary with operating temperature and the number of images taken over time. Typically , the trail cam will be able to capture several thousand images bef ore the batteries die. 2. Check to make sure you ha ve used new alkaline or lithium batteries.
18 Camera w on’ t power up 1. Make sure that you hav e installed all 4 batteries in the battery compartment. T asco recommends using 4 Energizer® Lithium AA batteries in this trail cam . 2. Make sure that the batteries are installed corr ectly, observing proper polarity .
19 5. Photos with streaked sub ject a. In some cases with low lighting conditions and fast moving subjects, the 3 MP resolution setting (“HI”) may not perform as well as the 1.3 MP setting (“L O”). b. If you ha ve multiple images where fast moving subjects produce streaks on the phot o, try the “LO” resolution setting instead.
20 Camera w on’ t retain settings 1. Make sure that you hav e been saving the changes to any parameter settings that you made while in Setup mode, by pr essing “OK” after changing the setting. If you don ’t save y our new setting after changing it, the camera will continue to use the orig inal default setting for that parameter .
