T ASCAM DR-100MKII 7 Quick Star t G uide In this section, we explain how to use this unit to recor d with the built-in mics (UNI MIC) and how to play back a recording . The unit contains a factory-installed SD card, and will by default produce 44.1 kHz, 16-bit W A V les.
8 T ASCAM DR-100MKII 8 Press the PLA Y / P AUSE [ 7 / 9 ] button for playback. If you use a headphone or external monitor syst em (power ed monitor speakers or amplifier and speakers), connect it to the or LINE OUT jack on the left side panel.

10 T ASCAM DR-100MKII 1 – Introduction Recycling the lithium ion battery This unit uses a lithium ion battery . When y ou no longer need the battery please help preser ve the valuable resources it c ontains by returning it to a business that recycles rechargeable batt eries.
T ASCAM DR-100MKII 11 SD cards This unit uses SD cards f or recording and playback. Y ou can use 64 MB–2 GB SD cards and 4 GB–32 GB SDHC cards with this unit. A list of SD cards that hav e been tested with this unit can be found on the T ASCAM web site (http://tascam.

Use STD mode • to work with MP3 files. 96 kHz W A V files cannot be overdubbed. • Playback speed adjustment and VSA func tions cannot • be used with 96 kHz W A V files.

28 T ASCAM DR-100MKII 4 – Recor ding Possible recording time Setting where files are sa ved Set the folder where rec orded les are saved . For details, see the SELECT popup menu items in “Folder operations ” on page 40. If no setting is made, new recor ding les are placed in the MUSIC folder .

30 T ASCAM DR-100MKII Setting the digital input Using a digital audio cable, y ou can connect the output of digital audio equipment, such as a CD play er ’ s digital connector , using the included digital con version cable to the REMO TE/DIGIT AL IN jack on the left side panel.
T ASCAM DR-100MKII 31 4 – Recor ding Adjusting the analog input lev el Before starting recording , the analog input level should be adjusted to prev ent the recorded sounds or signals fr om being distorted due to excessiv ely large input signals or from being inaudible due to ex cessively low input signals compared to noise .

T ASCAM DR-100MKII 39 5 – W ork ing with F iles and F olders (BROW SE Screen) On the BROWSE Screen, you can view the cont ents of the Music F older , which contains the audio les on the SD card that you can use with the DR-100MKII.
40 T ASCAM DR-100MKII DELETE A message appears to conrm that you wan t to delete the selected le. Pr ess the ENTER/MARK button to erase the le and ST OP [ 8 ] button to cancel the deletion operation. CANCEL The operation for the selected le is canceled, and the pop- up menu is closed.
T ASCAM DR-100MKII 41 Delete the selected file (QUICK DEL) Y ou can easily delete the selected le. 1 When the Home Screen is open, press the QUICK button to open a popup menu. 2 Select DEL from the menu, and press the ENTER/ MARK button. The QU I CK DELETE screen appears.

P ress the ENTER/MARK button to remov e all the files or the ST OP [ 8 ] button to cancel this operation. F or this operation, it does not matter which file you select in step 3.
T ASCAM DR-100MKII 45 Using the wheel to change the pla yback position When the Home Screen is open and a track is playing back or stopped, you can use the wheel t o change the playback position. NOTE The faster you turn the wheel , the more rapidly the • position changes.
