Obtain the necessary ca bles and terminator — The tape drive connects to the SCSI bus using a cable with a high-density , 68-pin male connector . This cable must meet the guidelines in “SCSI Cable Requirements,” beginning on page 41 .

This will confirm that the system can communicate with the tape drive and that the tape drive is operational.

Be aware that the 30-year storage life is for an archival tape, not a tape being used for daily back ups.
