7 Chapter 2: H ard ware Set up 3 Load the h ard disk i n the har d drive tr ay. For 3. 5” Hard Disk: R emove the fa stening pan els from the s ides of th e hard drive tray . Place t he hard dis k in the har d drive tr ay. Then in sert the fastening panels to secure the har d disk in place.

10 Cha p ter 3 Chapter 3 : Install DSM on DiskStation Once the har dware is r eady, your DiskStat ion requ ires DiskS tation M anager (DSM) – the operati ng system sp eci fic all y designed f or Synol ogy NAS – to start working. We highly r ecommend u sing Sy nology ’ s onl ine W eb Assist ant for i nstalling DS M from the w eb browser.
