13 C V501 - 16CH MOUNTING 1. Decide if the camera will be wall-mounted or sit on a desk/tabletop . The camera can be adjusted for either mounting sc enario by rota ting it to the r equired position. 2. Screw the mounting brack et into the camera ’ s mounting hole, turning it clockwise .

15 C V501 - 16CH CONNECTING YOUR ALARM SYSTEM T O THE DVR The CV501 - 16CH supports a 2 wire (normally open or normally closed) connection for up to sixteen external alarm devices simultaneously using the included alarm adapter . F or more informa tion on setting up the DVR to w ork with these alarms please see “buttons and connections.
16 C V501 - 16CH CONNECTING AND POWERING ON THE DVR Note: W e recommend using a sur ge protected pow er bar and/or Uninterrupted P ow er Supply (UPS) backup to prev ent damage to your DVR system. 1. Inser t the pow er cord in to the power supply . 2. Plug the power c ord int o a pow er outlet.
17 C V501 - 16CH GET TING ST ARTED Now that y ou hav e pow ered up the D VR and properly connected to a T V or monitor y ou are r eady to begin using and customizing the D VR for your specic needs. The DVR will automa tically begin recor ding once it has been pow ered on and initializ ed.
18 C V501 - 16CH Note: The button works as the ent er key . This must be pressed to s ave changes. The works as the escape butt on, and when pressed will exit the screen and not save an y changes. The main menu consists of nine options: 1. Camera Setup 2.
19 C V501 - 16CH C AMERA 1. T o choose which camera you w ant to w ork with highlight CAMERA so that the back ground is y ellow and use the mouse wheel or dir ectional keys to scr oll to the camera y ou wish to adjust .
20 C V501 - 16CH DISPLA Y Y ou can choose whether or not to display an y individual camera. By setting the display t o OFF the camera will not be display ed in live viewing , howev er the camera channel will con tinue to rec ord as per the dened r ecor ding settings.

RESOL UTION Y ou can set the resolution to: NTSC Mode 1. 720 x 240 (max 60 PPS) 2. 360 x 240 (max 120 PPS) P AL Mode 1. 720 x 288 (max 50 PPS) 2. 360 x 288 (max 60 PPS) Note: NTSC is the video standard f or Nor th America.
24 C V501 - 16CH ALARM RECORD PPS Y ou can change the PPS for alarm recor d. Y ou may wish to change the alarm PPS so that ther e is a higher PPS for when an alarm (e.g . motion) is detected by the DVR and a lo wer PPS for Normal Rec ord . T o C hange the Alarm Record PPS: 1.
25 C V501 - 16CH RECORD QU ALIT Y Ther e are four lev els of rec ord quality you can choose fr om, and it is adjustable per camera if rec ording with 720 x 240 r esolution. If using 360 x 240 resolution, cameras ar e adjusted in pairs (1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 et c.
26 C V501 - 16CH A UDIO RECORD The D VR is capable of recor ding one channel of audio . Y ou can connec t a camera that has a built in micr ophone or connect an external microphone into the RCA audio input to c ongure the DVR t o rec ord with audio .
27 C V501 - 16CH T o set the schedules: 1. Highlight SCHEDULE SETUP and select to enter the schedule recor d Menu. 2. Selec t the type of recor ding you wish t o use (Full , Alarm, No) fr om the bottom of the Menu scr een or use the fast for war d button to t oggle between the type of recor ding .
28 C V501 - 16CH External Alarm Mode Y ou can adjust your external alarm for Normally Open (NO), or Normally C losed (NC). Please consult the external alarm manufacturer for details regar ding whether to set up the External Alarm Mode to Normally Open or Normally Closed .
29 C V501 - 16CH The ev ent log setup allows y ou to choose which alarm triggers will be sav ed to y our event log (maximum 3000 ev ents). Setting up the even t log allows you t o star t playing r ecor ded footage by specic ev ents so that y ou do not hav e to fast forward through long periods of f ootage to see when the alarm is detected.
30 C V501 - 16CH T o S etup the Relay Time Setup: 1. Selec t RELA Y TIME SETUP from the Alarm Setup Menu. 2. Selec t to access the Relay Time Setup Menu. 3. Highlight the type of alarm you wan t to set up . 4. Use the mouse wheel or dir ectional keys to change the length of time.
31 C V501 - 16CH HDD INFORMA TION This option will allow y ou to view the t otal capacity of the connec ted har d drive as w ell as the percen tage of remaining spac e. This Menu is only used to display y our HDD status , and no settings can be adjusted on this screen.
32 C V501 - 16CH NET WORK SETUP 1. Acc ess the Main Menu by pressing Menu or b y using the P op Up Menu Bar . Move the mouse to the bottom of the displa y screen t o reveal the P op Up Menu. 2. Selec t the Menu icon. 3. Selec t the NETWORK setup icon.
33 C V501 - 16CH T o C hange from Static to DHCP A ddresses: 1. Under IP Mode, use the mouse wheel or dir ectional keys to change from DHCP to ST A TIC. 2. Press Menu or select the to exit the Netw ork Setup Menu or press the Menu button. 3. Press Menu or select the to e xit the Main Menu and sav e your settings.
34 C V501 - 16CH T o S etup your DDNS: 1. Selec t to setup the DDNS. 2. Highlight DDNS Setting . Use the mouse wheel or directional keys t o change from DISABLE to ENABLE. 3. Highlight PROVIDER. Choose y our DDNS pro vider from the list . 4. Highlight HOST NAME.

Alarm Setting: Enables the DVR to send y ou an email when an external alarm is triggered b y one of the attached devices .

37 C V501 - 16CH Record Time: The start and end time is used to display the initial time and dat e when recor ding began and the nal dat e and time when the recor ding nished (or the la test dat e and time when backup Menu was acc essed).

40 C V501 - 16CH Syst em T ype The two syst em types that are a vailable on this DVR ar e P AL and NTSC. The Nor th American standard is NT SC and should only be set to P AL if the TV or monitor that the D VR is connected to uses only P AL format . T o set the system type: 1.

52 C V501 - 16CH VIEWING Y OUR DVR OUTSIDE OF Y OUR NETWORK Now that y ou hav e successfully view ed your D VR and cameras from a c omputer it is time to set up y our rout er to view the DVR while a t a remote location.
53 C V501 - 16CH TESTING Now that y ou know y our external IP address , you can perform a test to ensur e your DVR is ac cessible from outside y our network ( over the in ternet). This t est should be per formed by a comput er that is not on the same network as the DVR.

59 C V501 - 16CH DVR CONFIGURA TION OPTIONS SYSTEM OPTIONS The syst em information, network informa tion and other options are display ed when this option is clicked . System Inf ormation Ser ver Name : This is the name of your D VR. It will be displayed in the title of the w eb bro wser and can be used to distinguish your D VR from another .
60 C V501 - 16CH IP Setting DHCP/Static : Choose whether your network uses DHCP IP addr ess or a Static IP addr ess. Generally most netw orks user DHCP automatically assigned IP addr esses. See NETWORK SETUP for more inf ormation regar ding DHCP/ST A TIC IP addresses .
61 C V501 - 16CH Schedule Update: Denes how often the DVR will update the DDNS w ebsite with it’ s current IP address Inf ormation. This should not be set to less then 60 minutes as some DDNS pr oviders ma y temporarily block the DVR. State: Displays the current sta te of the DVR.
