3 Preparing the phone To insert the SIM ca rd and battery 1 Remove th e battery cover. Slide th e SIM card int o its hold er with the contac ts facing down. 2 Insert the battery wi th the label s ide up and t he connectors facing each othe r. Replace the battery cov er as shown in the picture.
4 To charge the battery 1 The phone battery is partly charged when you buy it. Connect the charge r to the phone. It takes approximate ly 2.5 hours to fully charge th e battery. Press a key to illuminate the screen. 2 To remove t he charger, t ilt the plug u pwards.
5 To turn on the phone 1 Press and hold down . 2 Enter your PIN if reques ted. To correct mi stakes, press . 3 Select OK . 4 Select a language. 5 Enter the time and date and select Save .
6 SIM and PIN SIM card The SIM (Subscribe r Identity Module) card, which you get from your n etwork operator, con tains information about your subscription . Always turn o ff your phone and detach the charger bef o re you insert or remove the SIM ca rd.

8 Network coverage The network bars show the strength of the GSM ne twork in your area. Try moving to anothe r location if you have trouble calling and network coverage is poor.

13 Calling You must turn on the phone and be w ithin range of a network. To make a call 1 From standby enter th e area code and phone number. 2 Press .
14 To make international calls 1 From standby press and hold down until a + sign appears on the screen. 2 Enter the coun try code, area code (with out the first zero) and phone number . 3 Press . To view a missed call • When Missed calls: is displayed, select Yes .
15 Contacts You can save contac ts in the phone memory or on th e SIM card. You can copy co ntacts fro m the phone memory to t he SIM card or from the S IM card to the phone memory. To add a contact 1 From standby selec t . 2 Scroll to New contact and select Add .

20 To set the radio as a larm signal 1 From standby selec t Menu > Organizer > Alarms . 2 Scroll to an alar m and select Edit . 3 Scroll to the tab. 4 Scroll to Alarm sign al: > Edit . 5 Select Radio . The latest used radio channel will be used as alarm signal.
21 Messaging Text messages (SMS) You must have a service cent re number, which is supplied by your service provider an d saved on the SIM ca rd. Yo u may have to enter the number yourself. To set service centre number 1 From standby selec t Menu > Messaging > Settings > Text message > Service centre .
22 Picture messages (MMS) Picture messa ges can contain text, picture s, sound recordings and attach ments. To create and send a pictu re message 1 From standby press . 2 Select Picture msg . 3 Enter text. To add items to the message, press , scroll and select an item.
23 Camera Your phone has a digital camera to ta ke pictures to save or send. Pictures taken w ith the ca mera are saved in Menu > Organizer > File manager > Camera album . The format is JPEG. To start the came ra and take a picture 1 From standby, press .
24 More functions TrackID™ TrackID ™ is a free m usic recog nition serv ice. Search for song titles, ar tists and album na mes. You must have the required settings in your phone. See Internet on page 24. To search for song in formation • When you hear a song through a loudspeaker, from standby select Menu > Entertainment > TrackID™ .
25 File manager You can us e the file manag er to handle files saved in the phone memor y. To view information about files 1 From standby selec t Menu > Organizer > File manager . 2 Find a file and select Options > Information . To move a file in the file manager 1 From standby selec t Menu > Organizer > File manager .
26 Mass storage You can connect your phone to a computer with a USB cable to transfer files using Mass s torage . To use Mass storage 1 Connect a USB cable to the phone an d the computer. The phone will shut down in this mode and restart when disconnected fro m the USB cable.
27 Bluetooth™ wireless technology Bluetooth™ wireless technology makes wir eless connections to other Bluetooth devices, for example, a Bluetooth headset, poss ible.
28 To pair a dev ice with your phone 1 From standby selec t Menu > Settings > the Connectivity tab > Bluetooth > My devices > New device to s earch f or available dev ices. 2 Select a device fr om the list. Enter a passcode, if required.
29 Entering text There are two methods you c an use to e nter text: mult itap or predictive text input. To enter text using multitap • Press – until the letter appears.

31 Ringtones and themes Themes are used to change the appearance of the sc reen. To select a ring tone • From standby selec t Menu > Settings > the Sounds & alerts tab > Ringtones and select a ringtone.
32 Emergency calls Your phone supports international emergency numbers, for example, 112 and 911. These num bers can normally be used to make emergency calls in any coun try, with or without the SIM card inserted, if a GS M network is within range.
33 Locks SIM card lock The SIM ca rd lock protec ts yo ur subscription, but not your phone itse lf, from u nauthorized use. If you c hange SIM c ards, the phone still works with the new SIM card.
34 To edit your PIN 1 From standby selec t Menu > Settings > the General tab > Security > SI M lock > Change PIN . 2 Enter your PIN and select OK .
35 Phone lock The phon e lock prot ects the p hone aga inst unau thorized u se if it is stolen and the SIM ca rd is exchanged. You can chan ge the phone lock code (which is 0000 by de fault) to any four-dig it personal code.
36 Troubleshooting Some problems require that you call your service pro vider, but you can correc t most problems yourself. Remov e the SIM card before handing your phone in for repair.
37 I cannot turn the phone on, what should I do? Try charging th e phone until it has finishe d charging. Att ach the charger (make su re the power icon on the charger is facing upwards) and char ge the phone for 2 .5 hours. T he battery icon on the scr een may n ot appear until the phone has charge d for 30 minutes.
