Do not conn ect the power co rd of your p layer to t he “ switch ed ” power socket of an amplifi er (receiver). When you turn off the power of your amplifier (receiver) the menu setting for the player such as Pl ay back Memory may be lost.

Playin g Discs 33 Using the DVD’ s Menu Some discs have a “ title menu ” or a “ DVD menu ” . On some DVDs, th is may simply be called a “ menu ” or “ titl e. ” A DVD is divid ed into long sectio ns of a picture o r a m usic featu re called “ titles.

While play ing a d isc, an app roximat e bit rate of the p layback picture i s always displ ayed as Mbps (Mega bit per seco nd) and the audio as kbps (kil o bi t per se con d).
48 Sound Adjustme nts Changi ng the Soun d If the DVD is recorded with multilingual tracks, you can select the langua ge you want while playing th e DVD. If the DVD is recorded in multiple audio format s (PCM, Dol by Digital , or DTS), yo u can select t he audio fo r mat you wan t while playing the DVD.
Sound Adjustment s 49 When you selec t “ AUDIO, ” the channel s being play ed are display ed on the scre en. For examp le, in Dolb y Digital format, multiple signals ran ging from m onaural to 5.1 chann el signal s can be record ed on a DVD. Depending on the DVD, th e number of the recorded cha nnels may d iffer.

Sound Adjustment s 51 If the pl ayer is set up to ou tput the si gnal from the DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL or COAXIAL) jack, the surround effect will be heard on ly when you set “ DOLBY DIGITAL ” to “ D- PCM ” in “ AUDIO SETUP.
52 NORMAL SURROUND Software wi t h 2 channel au dio signal s i s decoded with D olby Sur round (P ro Log ic) to create surround effects. The rear speake rs will emit ide ntical mon aural soun ds. If you are usi ng a c enter speak er, Dolby Surround (Pro Logic) will also creat e the appro priate sounds f or t he center spe aker.
Sound Adjustment s 53 VIRTUAL MULTI DIMENSION Uses sound im aging to create an arr ay of vi rtual rear speaker posi tions high er than the list ener from a single pa ir of actua l rear spea kers.
