11 US Getting Started – B ASIC – 2 Attach the p ost cover to the other en d of th e post. Orient the slot toward you, attach the post cover so that th e slot of the post engages with the ta b of the post cover , then s ecure with the scr ew.
12 US Getting Started – B ASIC – 4 Connect the speaker cords to the speaker. Be su re to matc h the speak er cord to t he app ropr iate t ermi nal on the com pon ents: 3 to 3 , and # to # .

B Audio cord (not supplied) Ti p • When you want to output the TV sound or stereo soun d of a 2 channel source from the 6 speak ers, select the “Dolby Pro Logic,” “Dolby Pro Logic II MOVIE,” or “Dolby Pro Logic II MUSIC” sound field (page 36).
19 US Getting Started – B ASIC – To connect the FM wire antenna (aerial) Connect the FM wire antenna (aerial) to the FM 75 Ω COAX IAL jack. Note • Be sure to full y exten d the FM wire an tenna (ae rial) . • A fter con necting th e FM wire antenn a (aerial ), keep it as hori zontal as p ossible.

Getting Started – AD V ANCED – 25 US You ca n use the speak ers by inst allin g on the wall. Inst alling the sp eakers on a wall 1 Prepare screws (not supplied) that are suitable for the hole on the back of each speaker. See the illustrations belo w.

44 US You can play all the tit les, tracks or albums on a disc or a single t itle, chapter, track, or a lbum repeat edly . You ca n use a co mbin ation of Shu ffle or Progra m Play modes. 1 Press DISPLAY during playback. The Con trol Menu displa y appears.
V arious Functions for Playin g Discs 45 US A DVD is divid ed into a l o t of sec tions, which make up a pictu re or music fe ature. Thes e sectio ns are ca lled “t itles .” When you p lay a DVD which conta ins severa l titles, you can select t h e title y ou want using DVD TOP MENU.

48 US Ti p • When pla ying V IDEO CDs with PBC functio ns, t he play ing time is disp layed. Note • Th e system can on ly displa y the first le vel of the DVD/CD text, such as the disc name or title. • If an MP3 file name cannot be disp layed, “*” w ill appear in the fron t panel disp lay instead.

56 US 3 Press X / x to select a setting. The default setting is underline d. • [NORMAL] : se ts th e du rat ion to ab out 6 to 9 sec onds. • [FAST]: se ts the duration sh orter than [NORMAL]. • [SLOW1]: sets th e durati on longer t han [NORMAL].
V arious Functions for Playin g Discs 57 US With PBC (Pla ybac k Control) funct ion s, you can enjoy simple in te ractive operations, search functi ons, an d othe r such opera tio ns. PBC playback all o ws you to p lay VIDEO CDs interac tively by following the menu on the T V scre en.
58 US You ca n preset 20 FM stations , and 10 A M statio ns. Befo re tu ning, ma ke sur e to turn down the volume to minimum. 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly u ntil “TUNER FM” or “TUNER AM” appears in the front panel display. 2 Press and hold TUNING + or – until the auto scanning starts.
T uner Fu nctions 59 US Preset radio stations in t h e system’s me mo ry first (see “Pre set ting R adio S tat ions ” (pa ge 58)). 1 Press FUNCTION rep eatedly until “TUNER FM” or “ TUNER AM” appears in the front panel display. The last rece ived stat ion is tun ed in.
60 US 6 Create a name by using the cursor button s. Press X / x to se lect a char acter, then p ress c to move the c ursor to t he next position. Lette rs, numb ers, and othe r sym bols ca n be input fo r a radio stat io n.

62 US Operating the THEATRE SYNC funct ion Point the remote to the direction of TV and this unit, then press THEATRE SYNC once. If this function d oes not work , change the transmit ti me.
Other Op erations 63 US You ca n set the system t o turn off at a preset time, so you can f a ll asl eep liste ning to music . Other Op erations 65 US You can deactivate the buttons on the unit (exce pt fo r " / 1 ) for pr eventi ng mi sop eratio n, such as c h ild misc hief (child lock function). When the child l ock fu nction is acti vated , the button s on the unit are locked and “ ” lights up in the front pan el disp lay.

68 US 4 Enter or re-enter y our 4-digit p assword using the number buttons, then press . The dis play for sett ing the playbac k limitatio n level appears. 5 Press X / x to select [S TANDARD], then press . The selection items for [ S TANDARD] are disp laye d.

72 US Connect the cali bration mic to th e A.CAL MIC jack on the fr ont panel, and set it u p at the ear level us ing a trip od, etc. (not suppl ied ). Th e fro nt of each speak er should face the cal ib ratio n mic, and there sh o uld be no ob struct ion betwe en th e spea kers an d the calibrat io n mic.

82 US On power sources • Unplug the unit from th e wall outle t if you do not intend to use it for an exte nded period of tim e. To disconnect the cord, pull it out by the plug , never by the cord. On placement • P lace the sys tem in a location wit h adequat e venti lation to preven t heat build-up in the s y stem.
Additional I nformation 83 US On handling discs • To keep t he disc c lean, h andl e the dis c by it s edge . Do not touch th e surf ace. • Do n ot stick pa per or tape on t he disc.
84 US • The unit is conne cted to an input d evice that is not HDCP (hi gh-bandwidth digit al conte nt protection) compli ant (“HDM I” on the f ront pane l does not lig ht up).
Additional I nformation 85 US The so und loses stereo e ffect whe n you play a VIDEO CD, a CD, or an MP3. • Set [AUDIO] t o [STEREO] by pressing AUDIO (page 45). • Make sure the unit is connec ted properly. The surround effect i s difficult to hear w hen you are playing a D olby Digital, DTS, or MPEG audio sound trac k.
86 US • It does not fi t the TV scree n (those image s are reduced). • The [MOD E (MP3, JPEG) ] setting has been set to [AUDIO (MP3)] (page 55). • If you can not change the [M OD E (MP3, JPEG)] settin g, re-l oad the disc o r tu rn the system off, then on.
