8 About the display • When you press u after changing the CD or turning of f and on the play er , the total number of tracks in the CD and total playing time appear for about two seconds. • During play , the track number and the elapsed playing time of the current track appear .
9 Playback options Y ou can enjoy various wa ys of playback using the P (play) MODE button and the RPT (repea t)/ ENT (enter) button. P (play) MODE button Each time you press the button, you can change the playback mode.
10 Playing tracks repeatedly (Repeat play) Y ou can play tracks repeatedly in normal, single, shuf fle and PGM play modes. During playbac k, press RPT/ENT . Note on . / > During Repeat play , you can locate the first track after the last track by sliding the jog le v er tow ard > repeatedly .

12 B Available featur es G-PROTECTION function The G-PR O TECTION function has been dev eloped to pro vide excellent protection against sound skipping while jogging. This function provides a higher le vel of shock protection than the traditional one. While jogging, be sure to hold your CD player with the OPEN switch facing upw ard.
13 Emphasizing the bass sound (SOUND) Y ou can emphasize the bass-boosted sound. Press SOUND to select “BASS ” o r “BASS .” “BASS ” enhances the bass sound more than “BASS ”. Note If the sound is distorted when using the SOUND function, turn down the v olume.
14 Locking the contr ols (HOLD) Y ou can lock the controls on your CD player to prev ent accidental b utton presses. Slide HOLD in the direction of the arro w . Y ou can use the HOLD function with both the CD player and remote control. Y ou can still operate your CD player using the remote control when HOLD on the remote control is set to off.
15 SOUND No Y es* G-PROTECTION No No Connecting a stereo system Y ou can listen to CDs through a stereo system and record CDs on a cassette tape and a MiniDisc. For details, see the instruction manual that comes with the connected device. Be sure to turn off all connected de vices before making connections.
16 Using your CD player in a car Y ou can use your CD player in a car by connecting it to the car cassette deck. Y ou cannot use the car mount plate for this CD player . When you use your CD player in a car , install it securely in a location that does not interfere with your driving .

22 T roubleshooting Should any problem persist after you ha ve c hecked these symptoms, consult your nearest Sony dealer . Symptom The volume does not increase even if you press the VOLUME + button repeatedly. No sound, or noise is heard. The playing time is too short when powered with the dry batteries.
