SONOS PLA YBAR 3 Before You Begin Prior to installing the SONOS PLA YBAR, make sure all external components, such as your cable box, DVD player , etc. are connected directly to your TV . If you have any existing home theater or surround so und equipment, di sconnect it from your television.

Product Guide 6 Selecting a Location The PLA YBAR’ s flexible desi gn allows for multiple orientations . Y ou can wall mount it above or below your television or place i t on a tabletop. See the guidelin es below for more information. Tabletop • Lay the PLA YBAR horizontally and flat on its feet.
SONOS PLA YBAR 7 Setting Up the PLAYBAR The PLA YBAR is compatible wi th Sonos software versions 4.0 and later . If you are adding the PLA YBAR to an ex isti ng Sonos system, be sure to check for so ftware updates before adding th e PLA YBAR to your Sonos system.

Product Guide 10 PLAYBAR Settings F o llow the steps below if you wish to make changes to an y PLA YBAR settings or the way the PLA YBA R works with your television.
SONOS PLA YBAR 11 Using the Sonos Controller for Mac or PC 1. Select Manage -> Settings (PC) or Sonos -> Preferences (Mac). 2. Select Room Settings if it is not already highlighted on the left. 3. Choose the room the PLA YBA R is located in from the Room Settings for drop-down.
Product Guide 12 Recalibr ating the audio If you have a SUB and/or Sonos surround sp eakers associated with your PLA YBAR, you may wish to make some adjustments after initial setup. Y ou will likely wi sh to recalibrate the audio if you mo ve an y Sonos components in the room.

Product Guide 14 Ungroup on autoplay As with any Sonos player , yo u can group and ungroup the PLAYBAR with other rooms. If ungroup on autoplay is checked, an y Sonos rooms that are grouped with the PLA YBAR when the TV is turned on will auto matically drop from the group.
SONOS PLA YBAR 15 IR repeater When the PLA YBAR is placed in fron t of your TV on a tabletop, it may block the IR sensor on your TV . The IR repeater setting allows the PLA YBAR to repeat the si gnal to your TV . This setting is On by default. Using a handheld Sonos controller 1.

SONOS PLA YBAR 17 SUB settings F o llow the steps below if you wish to make any changes to the SUB settings. Using a handheld Sonos controller 1. From the Settings menu, select Room Settings . 2. Select the room the PLA YBAR and SUB are located in. It appears as Room ( +SUB ) on the Room Settings menu.

Product Guide 20 Playing Music The PLA YBAR doubles as an all-in -one Sonos player that allows you to stream all the music on earth. Simply choose the room the PLA YBAR is loca ted in and select a musi c source from the Music menu. Radio . Select from over 100,000 free Internet radio stations, shows and podcasts.
SONOS PLA YBAR 21 Wall Mounting PLA YBAR can be wall mounted above or below your wall-moun ted television using the PLA YBA R W a ll Mount Kit. T o preserve audio quality , ensure the connector panel faces away from the TV when mounted—th e SONOS logo should be farther from your TV .
Product Guide 22 3. Use an awl or other sharp object to punch 4 small holes throug h 4 of the marked lo cations on the tem plate. (If additional reinforcement is desired, 2 spare screws an d anchors are in clud ed in the wall mo unt kit.) Placement may vary but holes should be located toward the corners, away from center .
SONOS PLA YBAR 23 7. F asten the PLA YBAR bracket to the wall usin g the screws supplied in th e wall mount kit. Use the le vel to verify accur acy a final time, and then tigh ten the screws securely . 8. Hang the PLA YBAR securely on the two (2) bracket pegs.
Product Guide 24 Basic Troubleshooting If a problem occurs, you can try the troublesh ooting suggestions listed below . If one of these doesn’ t reme dy the problem, or you are not sure how to proceed, pl ease contact the Sonos Customer Suppo rt team and we’ll be happy to help.
SONOS PLA YBAR 25 If your remote will not allow a dditional devices to be programm ed, you might wish to purchase a universal remote to make it easier to control all your devices. Sonos recomm ends a Logitech® Harmony® universal remote. See pag e 26 for more informatio n.
Product Guide 26 Eliminating annoying me ssages on your TV when using a universal remote After you disable your TV speakers, your television might di splay an annoying or confusing message whenever you adjus t the volume on the PLA YBAR.
SONOS PLA YBAR 27 Turning Off Your Television’ s Speakers During the setup process you are prompted to turn off your TV speakers so th e soun d comes only through the PLA YBAR. While Sonos cannot provide instructions for every television model, please try the steps below .
