5 Section 1 - FA MILIA RIZA TION FIGURE 1.1 1.1 INTRODUCT ION This manual has been prepar ed for the operators of the SNAPPER W ALK BEHIND MOW ERS. Its purpose, aside from recom mending oper ating and routine servic e requirements , is to promote safety through the use of accepted operating practices .
6 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.1 PRE-STA RT CHECK LIST Make the following c hecks and per form the service required bef ore each start-up. 2.1.1. Check guards, deflectors, gr ass bag, adapter and covers to mak e sure all are in plac e and securely tightened.
7 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.2 STA RTING & OPERA TION 2.2.2. ENGINE & BL AD E (Choke M odels)(Commercial Only) 1. Move chok e/engine speed control to the “C hok e ” position. See Figure 2.4. NOTE: Stop the engine (and blade) by releasing the blade control.
8 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS WA RNING Before attempting any adjustments to the cutting height, STOP the engine, remove the spar k plug wire from the spark plug and secure wire away from plug. DO NO T make any adjustments w ith engine or blade running.
9 Section 3 - MA INTENA NCE 3.1 INTRODUCT ION To retain the quality of the m ower, use genuine SNAPPER replacem ent parts only. Contact a local SNAPPER dealer for parts and service assistanc e. For the cor rect part or inform ation for a particular mower, always mention m odel and serial num ber.
10 Section 3 - MA INTENA NCE 3.2.2. CHECK GREASE LEVEL IN T RA NSMISSIO N NOTE: Do not spill gr eas e or oil on sur f ac e of drive disc. See Figure 3.3. 3. Reinstall trans mission plug. 4. Thereaf ter, check grease level af ter each 25 hours of operation.
