C ONFIGURING THE S WITCH 22 The Input/Output Bandwidth Limit fiel d is a type-in box which acce pts an integer number in the rang e 1 to 100. The number specifies the percentag e of the total input bandwidth of the por t that can be used before pac kets are dropped or flow-control starts.
W EB C ONFIGURATION 23 Port Broadcast Control Broadcast stor ms may occur when a device on your network is malfunctioning, or if application pr ograms are not well designed or properly configur ed. If there is to o muc h broadcast traffic on your network, performance can be severely degraded or everything can come to complete halt.
C ONFIGURING THE S WITCH 24 Port Mirroring Y ou can mir ror traffic from any source por t to a targ et por t for real-time analysis . Y ou can then attac h a logic analyzer or RMON probe to the target port and study the traffic crossing the sour ce port in a co mpletely unobtr usiv e manner.

W EB C ONFIGURATION 29 • All ports can send and receive both VLAN-tagged and untagged packets (i.e. they are hybrid ports) In the default configuration, any port is able to send traffic to any other port and a PC connected to any por t will be able ro reach the management interface.
C ONFIGURING THE S WITCH 30 tagged or u ntagged frames, or only tagge d frames. When set to recei ve all frame type s, any received frames that are unt agged are assigned to the default VLAN. PCs should be connected to ports with Packet Type set to “All”.
W EB C ONFIGURATION 31 QOS Settings QoS (Quality of Ser vice) is a mechanism which is used to prioritize certain traffic as i t is move s through the switch . T raffic can be classi fied as High or Nor mal priority and, when the switch is heavily loaded, it is the Normal priority packets that are dropped fi rst.
C ONFIGURING THE S WITCH 32 table appears and you are able to select up to ten IP Ports for prioritization. Prioritized port numbers can be in the range 0 - 65535 inclusive . T he specified por ts will be giv en either nor mal or high priority de pending on the value selected in the Priority drop-down list.
