RECEIVER INST ALLA TION Kits 91558-01A and 91562-01 only 1. Unplug the power cord from the gar age door drive unit to pre vent door activ ation dur ing installation. 2. Select an unswitched 110V po wer outlet in the garage located either highest in the garage, closest to the front of the garage, or both.
For Dyna, Softail and Spor tster models: When servicing the fuel system, do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks in the vicinity . Gasoline is extremel y flammable and highly e xplosive , which could result in death or serious injury . (00330a) 3. The fuel tank must be remov ed or slightly raised to access wiring under neath.
2000 and Later Softails, Except Deuce (FXSTD) 1. Remov e the fuel tank mounting bolts. See the correct section (Carbureted or EFI Engine) of the service manual. 2. Remov e the rear splash guard (inner fender) per service manual instructions. 3. See Figure 4.

HARNESS CONNECTION General Splicing of wire leads is necessar y in the installation of the garage door opener to the v ehicle. Find the instructions f or a specific model in the sections that f ollow , and ref er to the ser- vice manual appendix f or proper wire splicing procedures.

5. Pull only the orange/white wire out of the longer piece of conduit on the garage door opener wire harness. Cut the e xcess length from the orange/white wire to within easy reach of the adapter wire. 6. See Figure 15, the 1 into 1 splice configuration.
NO TE On some Spor tster models the ignition module must be remov ed to access the orange/white wire in the main harness. 1. See Figure 20. Carefully slice open an area of the main harness wrap inside the electr ical side cov er or under the seat at an accessible point, and cut an or ange/white main harness power lead.

RECEIVER AND TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING After the receiver and tr ansmitter are installed, the receiv er must be progr ammed to receive the tr ansmitter frequency . This process ma y require two people, depending upon ho w far apar t the receiver and tr ansmitter are during the programming pro- cess.
