Inst allation 15 Depending upon the mounting loc ation you select in y our v ehicle, the mount should be att ached to the v ehicle dock and installed as de scribed in the f ollowing sections .
Inst allation 16 Suction C up Mount Method ( A) The suction cup mount ma y be att ached to an y smooth surf ace . Bef ore at taching the suction cup mount t o your windshield, y ou should check y our stat e and local la ws f or r egulations regar ding mounting this de vice on y our windshield.
Inst allation 17 Be sur e the cam le ver is up ( as shown in Figur e 3 ) and position the suction cup mount on the windshield or other loc ation you which ha ve chos en. Pre ss the cam le ver all the w ay do wn to w ards the b ase of the mount un til it locks t o adhere the suction cup .
Inst allation 18 V ent Mount Me thod (B) T o mount the vehicle dock using the vent mount me thod, install the v ent mount as f ollows: If the vent louv ers in y our v ehicle are r e cessed, y ou ma y need to use the longer vent hook s with the vent mount.
Inst allation 19 R efer t o Figur e 6 and att ach the vent mount t o a heating/ air c onditioning vent in y our vehicle . Po sition the tw o tension springs A against a v ent louver B . T hen push the vent mount int o the vent , f ar enough so that the hooks C dr op down and hook the r ear of the v ent louver ( see Figur e 7 ).
Inst allation 20 Y ou can change he angle of the v ehicle dock by changing the po sition of f oot D on the ven t mount to a diff er ent adjustment hole ( see Figur e 8 ).
Inst allation 21 Inst alling the Magnetic Ant enna Caution Bec ause adhesiv e is used in the inst allation of the Rubber Ant enna C over /T ail, we r ecommend that y ou install the an tenna at or abo ve r oom temper atur e (68° F).
Inst allation 22 Ant enna Mounting The SIRIUS Magne tic Mount V ehicle Antenna has a str ong magnetic mount de signed to hold it in plac e during normal driving conditions (high w ay / city ). T his also mak es the antenna e asy t o r emove f or tr ansf erring it to o ther vehicles .
Inst allation 23 The SIRIUS ant enna needs t o have an unob structed ar ea o f 3 inches b y 3 inches around it . It is important t o mount the ant enna where no ob structions will block the an- tenna fr om r eceiving the SIRIUS signal.
Inst allation 24 Peel the pr ot ective mat erial from the adhe sive strip s (s ee Figur e 10 , on page 2 3) and pr ess the rubber C ov er /T ail fi rmly int o place on the v ehicle.
Inst allation 25 Sedan / Coupe Ant enna C able Routing Pr ocedur e Figur e 11 show s how the ant enna cable should be r out ed from the ant enna to y our St armate S T5 in a sedan/ coupe . F ollow these de tailed c able installation instructions: F eed the cable fr om the antenna underneath the rubber molding ar ound the r ear window .
Inst allation 26 R oute the ant enna cable out o f the window molding and int o the rubber we ather stripping ar ound the trunk opening. Lift the we ather stripping from the opening and tuck the c able inside it, then r eplace the we ather stripping.
Inst allation 27 Pickup T ruck Antenna C able Routing Pr ocedur e Figur e 12 show s how the ant enna cable should be r out ed from the ant enna to y our St armate S T5 in a pick up truck.
Inst allation 28 A t the low est c orner of the windshield, r oute the c able out of the windshield molding and int o the rubber weather s tripping around the door opening. Lift the we ather stripping fr om the opening and tuck the cable inside it, then r eplac e the we ather stripping.
Inst allation 29 F ollow these de tailed c able installation instructions: F eed the antenna cable underne ath the rubber weather s tripping of the r ear tailgat e window / door and r out e the cable along the r ear hatch. Lift the w eather stripping fr om the opening and tuck the c able inside it, then replac e the we ather stripping.
Inst allation 30 Bring the cable out fr om the trim near the fi r ew all and r oute it under the c arpet to w ar d the dashboard or c onsole . Coil an y e xc ess c able in a hidden location, such as under the carpe t, k eeping it aw ay fr om any v ehicle pedals or contr ols.
Inst allation 31 F ollow these de tailed c able installation instructions: Bring the cable fr om the ant enna into the trunk at the fr ont edge of the trunk lid. K eep an y bends in the cable loos e. T ape or tie the cable along the inside o f the trunk lid to the trunk lid hinge s trut.

Inst allation 44 Wir eles s Connection If y ou cannot c onnect your SIRIUS r adio dir ectly to y our vehicle ’ s audio sy stem, y our St armate S T5 cont ains an FM tr ansmitt er that will ‘broadc ast’ its audio t o y our vehicle ’ s FM r adio.
Inst allation 45 Pr ess and hold the FM P RESET S butt on ( see Figur e 2 6 ). The FM P RE SETS scr een will appear , with FM1 highlighted. FM1 is f actory-se t to 88. 1MHz. This may not be the best fr equenc y for y our ar ea ( see Figur e 27 ). Pr ess the Select but ton.
Inst allation 46 If y ou regularly tr a vel bet ween cities with dif fer ent activ e FM channels, y ou may need t o fi nd channels that ar e not br oadcasting in e ach city . Y our St armate S T5 can s tor e up to 5 pr es et FM tr ansmit channels ( see Figur e 27 , on page 4 5), so you c an easily s witch t o the best FM channel f or each cit y .
Inst allation 47 Wir eles s A udio Connection U sing the FM Ext ender Antenna Y our SIRIUS radio include s an FM Extender Ant enna (FEA) that c an maximize the audio quality o f y our SIRIUS radio when using a W irele ss C onnection.
Inst allation 48 IMPOR T ANT NO TE The FM Ext ender Antenna is plac ed inside y our vehicle in clos e pro ximity t o the vehicle ’ s FM ant enna. In or der for it t o pr ovide a str ong FM signal f or good rec eption, it MUS T be mounted in the c orrect loc ation and orientation, as de scribed in the follo wing sections .

Y ou can also pr ess the M ENU butt on on the S T5 unit, select S ETTINGS , then select A UDIO L EVEL and turn the volume do wn to z er o.
Inst allation 61 St ep 8: P ermanently install the FEA N OT E : I F YO U ARE MOUNTING THE FEA IN THE VEHICLE ’ S HEADLINER , SKIP THIS S TEP . Inst allation 63 Tips f or Identifying the FM An tenna Corr ectly identif ying your v ehicle’ s FM antenna is a k ey t o succ ess fully installing the FEA. The pr ec eding inst allation section alr eady show ed y ou the diff er ent kinds of FM antennas f ound on v ehicles.
Inst allation 64 Gr eater c onfusion ma y arise with whip type an tennas. Figur e 47 show s some whip type ant ennas which can be f ound on the fr ont or re ar of a vehicle ’ s roof , or on the r ear windshield. Some of the se antennas c ould be the FM ant enna and some ar e not the FM antenna.

Also , you will be alert ed should your t eam/ c ar begin playing/ r acing while y ou’r e list ening to y our St armate S T5.
Oper ation 81 Using the Channel UP /DO WN butt ons, choo se S TORE A RTI ST or S TORE S ONG ( when av ailable ) and pr ess the S elect butt on to sav e the selection t o memory . If both the artist and song ar e av ailable t o sav e, y ou will be pr ompted again t o sav e whichev er one y ou haven ’t y et sav ed ( see Figur e 69 ).
Oper ation 82 Using the Channel UP /DO WN butt ons, choo se the desir ed sports team ( when av ailable ) and pr ess the S elect butt on to sa ve the curr ent selection t o memory .
Oper ation 83 Use the Channel UP /DOWN but tons t o choose whether t o r eplace an e xisting alert or canc el saving the alert to memory . If you c ancel sa ving the alert, the r adio will r ev ert to the last activ e display mode .

Oper ation 86 The S T5 then display s the S IRIUS S EEK L IST screen, which displa ys a lis t of the curr ent matche s ( see Figur e 81 ). No alert is pro vided for the c urrently-t uned channel.
Oper ation 87 Jump But t on Y our Starmat e ST5 has a special pr es et butt on called the Jump butt on that lets y ou quickly tune t o a channel that you w ant t o acc ess fr equently , such as a tr af fi c channel or a sports channel.
Oper ation 88 Pr essing the Jump but ton again while the S T5 is actively s earching f or a tr af fi c r epor t will canc el the sear ch. Pr essing the Jump but ton aft er the ST5 has t uned to the tr af fi c report channel will r eturn y ou to the pr e vious channel.
Oper ation 89 SIRIUS R epla y Y our Starmat e ST5 aut omatically s tor es the audio o f the channel you’ r e listening t o for later pla yback. Appr oximat ely 30 t o 60 minutes o f audio ( depending upon the channel t o which y ou are tuned) is s tor ed.
Oper ation 90 Select an it em from the lis t and the playback will c ommence fr om that point in the st ored audio . If y ou select “<<Live>>” the S T5 will e xit the SIRIUS R eplay mode and r esume playing the liv e broadc ast.
Oper ation 91 Pr essing- and-holding the Re wind butt on for one s econd r ewinds pla yback in 10 sec ond interv als, which incr ease t o 15 and then 30 sec ond interv als the longer the R ewind but ton r emains press ed. Pla yback begins immediately when y ou r ele ase the butt on.
Oper ation 92 The Pr ogr ess Bar is a visual indic ator o f the st atus of the SIRIUS R eplay memory ( see Figur e 88 ). As the memory fi lls, Pr ogres s Bar begins t o fi ll from the right side pr oviding a visual indic ation of how much o f the SIRIUS R eplay memory is fi lled.
