7 Up/Down Needle P osition Button 3 RED LED GREEN LED Press this button to bring the needle up or down. The RED LED will light up when the needle is down. The GREEN LED will light up when the needle is up . The machine will stop with the needle up or down depending on the needle position determined by this button.

Y ou can raise it higher e than the normal up position w to help you place thick f abr ic under the f oot. When lifter is at highest position e the le v er will not lock in place w .

11 Step z Place a bobbin in the bobbin case making sure the thread winds clockwise on the bobbin as illustr ated. Step x Draw the thread through the slit q in the bob bin case. q Slit Step c Continue to pull the thread under the tension spring w and through the opening e .
12 Step z Raise the presser f oot lifter . Press the Up/Down needle button twice to ensure that the needle is in its highest position. T ur n the pow er s witch off . Set a spool of thread on the spool pin. P ass the thread through the guide q from behind.
13 z Lower the presser f oot. Press the Up/Do wn needle button twice to raise the needle to its highest position. T ur n the power s witch off. Push down the needle threader le v er q as f ar as it will go .
14 Step z Hold the needle thread q lightly with your left hand. Step x Hold upper needle thread and rotate handwheel one complete rev olution q . The upper thread will bring up the loop through the needle plate w . When the power is on the machine y ou can push the Up/Down needle button twice to bring up bobbin thread.
15 w e e z T ur n the power s witch off. Lower the presser foot. T ur n the needle clamp screw q counterclockwise with the large scre wdriver . Loosen the screw and remo ve the needle from the needle clamp .
16 The needle thread and bobbin thread should interlock in the center of two la y ers of the f abric in straight seams. T est the bobbin thread tension by first holding the end of the bobbin thread and suspending the bobbin case as illustrated. Then, flick your wrist once or twice to check the drop of the bobbin case.
17 Bef ore star ting your project alw a ys test the compatibility of thread, needle and f abric together . Also test stitch length and pressure f oot pressure. Step z T urn the stitch length adjustment dial q to adjust the stitch length to 3. Raise the thread take up le v er and slide the needle and bobbin threads under the presser foot.
18 (1/4”) (1/4”) The machine will sew in re verse as long as the re v erse stitch le ver is pressed. Secure the beginning and end of a seam by se wing in re v erse f or about 3/8”. Pull the bobbin thread to bring the needle thread to the wrong side of f abric.
19 Attach the cloth guide to the needle plate with the setscrew q . Adjust the position of the f abric guide for seam allow ance needed w and tighten the setscrew q . Attach the narrow hemmer f oot w to the presser f oot bar . Tighten the setscrew q using the large screwdriv er .
20 Darning and free motion sewing is used for repairing holes or tor n areas in cloth. Also the foot allows y ou to do monograms and stipple quilting. The darning plate covers the f eed dog to pre v ent the f eed dogs from moving the f abric and allows you to freely mo v e the f abric.
