1 INST A LLA TION A ND OVERVIEW GENERAL OPERATING REQUIREMENTS ENVIRONM ENTAL A mbient temperature/Ventilation The MRX Switching System is designed t o operate as specif ied when the ambient t em peratur e is k ept within the range of 0 ° C to 50 ° C.

3 VIDEO FRAME - AN ALOG Video signals are connect ed to the video fr ame via BNC jacks on t he rear panel. Connect the source video cables to t he corr esponding input BNCs on the rear of t he f rame. T he MRX routing switcher must be the t erminating device in the system.
4 To ensure t hat t he SCI has power at all times, the contr ol m odule is connect ed to every power module output. This g uarantees t hat if any f unct ional power supply module is installed, the SCI will have power supplied to it.
5 REAR SUPPO RTS Depending upon the inst allation, it m ay be necessary to install the included rear mounting fr ame supports . These suppor ts are desig ned to allow connection to rear rails positioned bet ween 19 and 30 inches from t he fr ont suppor ts.
6 CONTROL PANEL To initiate the switching operation, data must be input into the SCI . One way t o input this data is throug h a control panel. T he MRX system is capable of utilizing many diff erent control panels av ailable fr om Sig ma Electr onics, Inc.

A1 A PPENDIX A – SCI PROT OCOL A ND INTER F AC E INTRODUCTION The SCI serial int erf ace card is the hear t of the Sigm a MRX Series mid-size matrix routing system. T he SCI f unctions as the cont roller between the user and the switcher cr osspoints.
