4 How your MUSIC Pro In-the-Ear hearing instruments look like Eac h hearing instrument can be identified b y the serial number , whic h is located on the outside of the instrument: If the number is written in red, the hearing instrument is for the right ear , and if the number is written in blue, this hearing instrument is for the left ear .
5 How to insert your In-the-Ear instruments Hold y our hearing instr ument between thumb and inde x finger and carefully push the instr ument in the ear canal. No w bring it into the corr ect position b y turning it slightly . Y ou ma y find it helpful to pull your e xternal ear slightly upw ards or to the rear .
6 How to remove the instruments from your ear Th er e ar e 2 ways t o s witch y our instr ument ON/OFF . First w ay . T he bat tery compar tment serves as an ON / OFF s witch. If y ou want to switc h the instr ument on, inser t the bat tery and simply close the bat tery compartment - the instrument is no w ready f or use.
7 Battery changing When inserting the bat tery please pay at tention to the plus side on the bat tery . T he plus (+) side of the bat tery is al ways the smooth side. Y ou can recognise the minus (–) side b y the coloured ring. Y ou should al ways k eep spare bat teries at hand.
8 Safet y not es for batt eries W ARNING Keep bat teries a wa y from c hildren! Bat teries must not be sw allowed. R emov e the bat teries when the instrument is not in use o ver a prolonged period.
9 Zinc-air bat teries are used toda y almost ex clusively in hearing instr uments to minimise en vironmental damage. These bat teries req uire oxy gen f or operation, whic h they absorb fr om the air . T he bat tery is activated as soon as the protectiv e f oil is pulled of f and is used up e ven if y ou do not use your hearing instr ument.
10 Hearing instruments with a program button If y ou hav e chosen MUSIC P ro hearing instr uments with a selection of progr ams, then y ou can adapt y our hearing instr uments to a c hanged hearing situation b y lightly pressing the pr ogram but ton.
11 Hearing instruments with telecoil T he telecoil is intended f or telephone conv ersations and f or using induction loops, e.g . in chur ches, theaters or lect ure rooms. In order to be able to use the telephone coil, your telephone also must be suitable f or hearing instruments and emit an adequate magnetic field.
12 Hearing instruments with volume control MUSIC P ro hearing instr uments work automatically , so that manual adjustments of the v olume are not necessary . If y ou would still lik e to adjust the volume y ourself , most MUSIC P ro models of f er a v olume control on req uest.
13 1. 2. Tips for cleaning and care Ear wax accumulates on y our hearing instr uments. This can lead to inflammation in y our auditory canal if the instr uments are not cleaned r egularly . Ther ef ore: Clean y our In-the-Ear instr uments at least twice a week (possibly e ven daily , if y ou see a lot of ear w ax).
14 3. Bring y our hearing instr uments regularly to y our hearing instr ument specialist on the schedule that he or she recommends f or c hanging the w ax guard, cleaning the v enting channel, the microphone and sound outlets, and the instr ument in general.
15 The best way to handle your hearing instruments Y our new Siemens hearing instr uments are highly sensitiv e devices. T his natur ally requires some car e in their handling .
16 Some useful tips: Never expose your hearing instruments to extreme temperat ures or high humidity . Never let them lie in the blazing sun. Do not wear them when taking a shower or when using hairspray .
17 How you can help yourself In selecting y our MUSIC P ro hearing instr uments, you ha ve c hosen extr emely dependable devices. H oweve r , should a f ault occur , it can usually be corrected quic kly . Important tips: If the hearing instr ument whistles T est the instrument yourself by co vering the sound outlet opening with your finger tip.
18 If the hearing instrument is too quiet or you hear two signal tones within one minute. Most likely , you need to insert a new battery . If it is still too quiet, clean the instrument, following the directions given in the chapter ”T ips for cleaning and care”.

T elephoning with y our hearing instrument T here are two dif f erent methods f or telephoning while w earing y our hearing instr ument: 1 . Using the normal hearing progr am: The sound fr om the telephone receiv er is absorbed directly b y the microphone of y our hearing instr ument.
22 Note: Most of the modern telephones, par ticularly cordless telephones and mobile phones, do NO T emit a magnetic field. In this case you should use the normal hearing pr ograms.
