Chapter 2:System Requir ement and Installation C h a p t e r 2 : System Requirement and Installation System Requirement T o access the ADSL R outer via Ethernet, the host com puter must meet the following re quirements: W ith Ethe rnet network i nterface.
Connecting the ADSL Router Follow the steps below to connect the related devices. n Connecting the ADSL line. Connect the DSL port of the device to your ADSL wall outlet with RJ-1 1 cable. o Please attach one end of the Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connector to the LAN port of y our ADSL R outer .

Method T wo – Run a silent installation. n Copy the USB driver folder fro m the driver CD to some where on the PC. (In our exampl e, the driver files are pu t under D:Siemens WHQLed .) o Open St a r t menu, key in cmd in the blan k and press e nter .

T o uninstall the USB driver , there are two wa ys to do it. Please follow the instructions. Method One: Remove from Device Manager . n Choose Start menu, and then select Control Panel .

Remember to unplug the USB cable bef ore continue the uninstall ation, or you will see the reminder as follows. Unplug a nd press OK . t When the Confirm Device Uninst all screen show up, che ck Delete the driver sof t ware for the device and click OK to continue.
Chapter 3: Configuratio n Note: If your USB driver is inst alled by UPnP device, you can only use method on e (via the Device Manager ) to uninst all, because the inst alled dr iver will not be shown on the program list. n Unplug your USB cable between you r ro uter and your PC.
s The USB driver is successf ully removed now . Setting TCP/IP In order t o access the Internet t hrough the rout er , each host on your networ k must install/setup TCP/IP .

Chapter 3: Configuratio n 9. Wait for Windows copying files. 10. When prompted with the System Settings Chan ge dialog box, click Yes to restart your computer. For Windows NT 1. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Pa nel . 2. Double-click the Network ic on.
5. Click Yes to use DHCP. 6. Insert the Windows NT CD into your CD-ROM drive and type the location of the CD. Then click Continue . 7. Returning to the Network window, you will find the TCP/IP Protocol among the list. Select TCP/IP Protocol and click Properties .

For Windows XP From the Start menu, point to Control Panel and then click Network and Internet Connections . Click Network Connection and then click Properties . Click Network Connection and then click Properties .3.On the General tab, check out the list of installed network component s.
Chapter 3: Configuratio n For Windows Vista 8. Open the Start menu, point to Control Panel and click it. 9. Click Network and Internet. 10. Select Networ k and Sharing Center .
11. Click Manage Netw ork Connection on the left side. 12. Right click Local A rea Connection and select Properties . 13. On the Ne tworking tab, you will find Internet Protocol Version 6 and Vers ion 4. Contact your ISP to confirm which one will be used.
Chapter 3: Configuratio n 14. Unde r the General tab, enable Use the fo llo wing IP address . Enter the IP address : 192.168.1.x (x is between 2 and 254 ), Sub net Mask : 255.
On the IP Address tab, select Obtain an IP address automatically . The n click OK . For Windows NT On the IP Address tab, click on the drop-down arrow of Adapter to select requir ed adap ter. En able Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server and then click OK .

For Windows XP On the IP Address tab, select Obtain an IP address automatically . The n click OK . Windows Vista On the IP Address tab, select Obtain an IP address automatically .
Chapter 3: Configuratio n Renew IP Address on Client PC There is a chance that your PC does not renew its IP address after the ADSL Router is on line and the PC cannot access the Internet. Please fol low the procedures bel ow to renew PC’ s IP address .
For Windows NT 1. Select Run from the Start menu. 2. Select Run from the Start menu. 3. Type cmd in the dialog box a nd the click OK . 4. Type ipconfig at prompt.
Chapter 3: Configuratio n For Windows 2000 1. From the Star t menu, point to Programs , Accessories a nd then click Command Prompt . 2. Type ipconfig at prompt.
For Windows Vista 1. Open the Start menu, and type cmd in the text box then click OK . 2. The comm and prompt window will appear. 3. Type ipconfig at the command win dow a n d pres s Enter to view the computer’s IP information from DHCP server.
Chapter 3: Configuratio n Note: If you cannot release the IP address successfully and see the message “ The requested operation requires elevation ,” please go to the Start m enu and right click Command Prompt , then set Run as administrator . Chapter 5:Connection Mode Chapter 4: Web Configuration Some users m ight want t o set specific confi g uration for the router such as firewall, data transmission rate… and so on. This chapter will provide you advanced information of the web pages for the router for yo ur reference.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Outline of Web Manager For configure the web page, please use admin as the userna me and the password. The main screen will be shown as below . Tit l e : It indicates the title of this management interface. Main Menu : Incl udes Quick S tart, S tatus, Advanced and Managem ent.
Quick Start The pages fo r the Quick S tart pr ovide user a qui ck way to s et for the ro uter . If you do not know more about the router, you can use the Quick S tart pages to adjust basic settings to make your router activating.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode After clicking on the Next butt on from the VPI/VCI web page , the following screen wi ll appear . Please choose the connection type and encapsul ation mode that you want to use and click Next for next pa ge. For example, PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) in this screen is selected.
PPP over ATM/ PPP over Ethernet If the type y ou choose is PP P over A TM or PPP over Ethernet, please refer to the following information. According to the ISP’ s configuration on the server, you can choose PPPo E and PPPoA modes.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode PPP Usernam e: T ype in the user n ame that you got from your ISP . PPP P assword: T ype in the passwo rd that you got from your ISP . Always On: Check this button to make the con n ection is always active. Dial on Demand: Click this button to make a co nn ection while in demand.
PCs. S tart IP Addr ess: T ype in the start point IP address. End IP Addre ss: T ype in the end poi nt IP addr ess. Leased Time : T ype in the dur ation for the t ime. The default is 1day . DHCP Server Off: Check this item if DHCP service isn’t needed on th e LAN.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode IP over ATM If the type you have to choose is IP over A TM, please refer to the following information. IPoA is an alternative of LAN emulation. It allows TC P/IP networ k to access A TM network and uses A T M quality o f service’ s features.
In the Configure LAN side Sett i ngs web page, you have to fill in the data requested here. Primary IP Address: T ype in the firs t IP address t hat you got f rom your ISP for your LAN connection. Subnet Mask: T ype in the subn et mask that you got from your ISP for your LAN connection.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Now , the system will reboot to activate the new settings that you have done in this section. Please wait for 2 minutes for restarting the router .
Bridging If the type you choose is Bridging , please refer to the followin g information. The bridgi ng mode can con figure your r outer to send packets received on any port such as A TM PVC or Ether net with a broa dcast MAC address to all other ports.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Primary IP Address: T ype in the IP address that you got from your ISP for LAN inter face. Subnet Mask: T ype in the subn et mask that you got from your ISP for LAN interface. MTU: It means the maximum size of the packet that transmitted in the network.
Status Overview This page is displaying the current status for the DSL connection. It includes if the lists the LAN IP address, defaul t gateway , DNS servers IP address, firm ware version, t he period of acti vating the router , and so on. The system status will be changed according to the setting s that you configured in the web pa ges.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode ADSL Line This page shows all information for ADSL. For knowing the quality of the ADSL connection, please click ADSL BER T est button to have adva nced inform ation. Click More Information to sho w more detailed information ab ou t ADSL Line Sta tu s .
When the test is over , the result will be shown on the follo wing dialog for your reference. Click Close to close this dialog. Internet Connection This page dis plays the c onnection information fo r your router , such as PVC name, category , proto col, invok ing NA T or not, IP a ddress, link stat us and so on.

Advanced Setup Local Network- IP Address This page is the sam e as you can see in the Confi gure LA N side Settings page w hile running the Quick Setup . It allows y ou to set IP Address an d Subnet Mask values for LAN interface. Primary IP Address: T ype in the firs t IP address t hat you got f rom your ISP for your LAN connection.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode DHCP Server On: Check this item if DHCP service is needed on the LAN. The router will assign IP address, gateway addr ess for each of your PCs. S tart IP Addr ess: T ype in the start point IP address. End IP Addre ss: T ype in the end poi nt IP addr ess.
The new one will be shown on the dialog right away . That is, the specified address will be reserved and not be assi g n e d by DHCP for other com puter .
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Local Network – UPnP The UPnP i s available only for W indows XP . If you are no t user of W indows XP , this page does not have any m eaning to you. This page allows you to enable the UPnP function throug h th e web page for your router .
If you choose Non Realtime VBR, you have to type in the following data. The range for Peak Cell Rate is from 1 to 1690. The range for Sustaina ble Cell Rate is from 1 to 1689 and must be smaller than Peak Cell Rate. The range for Maxim um Burst Size is from 1 to 100.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Internet-DNS Server If Enable Automatic Assigned DNS checkbox is selected, this router will accept the first received DNS assignm ent from one o f the PPPoA, PP PoE or MER/DHCP enabled PVC(s) during the connection establishment.
Internet - ADSL Settings Enable ADSL Port: Check this box to enable this function . It simply invokes the lin e mode that you choose here fo r the router . Select the support of line m odes: There are several selections for your choosing. Select the one t hat you need.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Allow you to remove the selected static route settings. Adding a New One T o add a static route, please choose S tatic Route - Add . T ype the de stination netwo rk address, su bnet mask and gate way that you get from ISP and click Apply .
For a router with a direct c onnection to the R outer’ s local Router , the Gateway IP Address is the address of the Router’ s local router . For routers which must forward pac kets to another router befo re reachi ng the Router ’ s local router , the Gateway IP Address is the add ress of the intermediate router .

Virtual Server-Port Forwarding The Router implements NA T to let your entire lo cal network appea r as a single machine t o the Internet. The typical situation is that you have local servers for different services and you want to make them publicly accessible.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode IP Address seen by Intern et Users Please note that, in the above picture , both Internet users are connecting to the sam e IP address, but using dif ferent prot ocols. T o Internet users, all virtua l serv ers on your LAN have the same IP Address.
From Inter net Host IP Addr ess: Select the initial place for port forwarding. If you choose SINGLE, a box will appear for you to fill in the IP address for the specific host. And, if you choose SUBNET , th e boxes of IP and Subnet will appe ar for you to fill in the IP address and subnet m ask for the specific host as the start point.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Or define by yourself by typing the words into the field of User defined. Click Apply to complete the setting. Virtual Server - DMZ Host Direct Mapping Z one (DMZ) uses a technology that m akes Router fo rwarding all i ncoming packet to internal specific serv er .
Virtual Server - Dynamic DNS The Dynamic DNS (Dynamic Domain Nas me System ) combines bot h functions of DNS and D HCP to map a dynamic IP into a fixed domain name. This page allows you to access into virtual servers with a dom ain name and pass word.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode Firewall The firewall is a software that interrupts the data between the Intern et and your computer . It is the TCP/IP equivalent of a security gate at the entr ance to your company .
Then, to add a new IP Filtering, click Add . This page pr ovides some set tings for you t o adjust for adding a new ou tbound IP Filtering. Allow T raffic: No stops the data transm ission, Ye s lets the data pass thr ough. Prot ocol: Here provide several default po licies for security levels for you to choose.
Chapter 5:Connection Mode A new IP filtering setting for Outbound traffic is created in the web page. T o edit the setting, please click th e pencil mark to get into the editing p age. T o delete the setting , click the trash mark to erase it. T o set another IP filtering, click Add again.
