T wo connection methods are supported: Direct PC/lapto p to OMNINAS Switch/router to OMNINAS For Windows and Mac users, connecting to a DHCP enabled router is recommended.

Pressing Power Button A blinking LED specifies that the system is in the power ing-on state. A solid LED specifies that the OMNINAS has obtained an IP address fr om the router (DHCP con- nection).

P RODUCT O VERVIEW L OGGING I N 3-12 English Logging In The login screen appears and prompts for a Username and Passwor d. The default username is admin. There is no default password. Note: Y o u can change the language sett ing on this screen by c licking on the language drop-down menu.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW U SER M ANAGEMENT 3-13 English User Management This section provides inform ation for the management of us er accounts. The provided guidelines cover adding, edi ting, deleting user prof iles, as well as vi ewing of user lists.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW A DDING U SERS 3-14 English Password: Case-sensitive and supports a maximum of 16 characters. A p ass- word of at least 6 characters is recommended. Share Add User Screen 1. Click on the Add User tab to add a user . 2. Fill in the information and click Save .
P RODUCT O VERVIEW E DITING U SERS 3-15 English Editing Users Editing a User 1. Click the User List tab to view a list of available users. 2. Select a user and click Edit to modify . A prompt displays, edit the desired fields. 3. Click Save to complete changes or Cancel to go back to the User List.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW S TORAGE M ANAGEMENT 3-16 English Storage Management RAID Manager The S torage function on the main menu provides acce ss to configure and manage your available storage. The S torage function allows access to RAID Manager , Disk Manager and Auto Mi rror to monitor and change the RAID array on the OMNINAS.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW RAID M ANAGER 3-17 English IMPORTANT: Changing RAID types erases all data stor ed on your storage di sks. If there is saved data on the drive(s), back up your dat a bef ore proceeding. The Disk Manager function displa ys model, capacity and status of the available hard drives.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW RAID M ANAGER 3-18 English Single: Install 1 x hard disk drive JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1: In stall 2 x hard disk drives 1. Select S torage and click on the RAID Manager tab. The current RAID mode is displayed above the availabl e RAID modes, see the follow- ing figure.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW D ISK M ANAGER 3-19 English Disk Manager Disk manager function allows you to check the status of external and internal disks as well as viewing the formatted ca pacity of all available disks. Disk Manager Interface Checking Disks IMPORTANT: Checking disks unmounts a drive(s).
P RODUCT O VERVIEW D ISK M ANAGER 3-20 English 4. Under Formatted Cap acity , select a drive and click Check Disk . Checking Disk Function 5. A prompt displays to confirm, click OK to continue. The process continues. When it is complete, the Di sk Manager screen displays.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW A UTO M IRRORIN G 3-21 English 2. Under Formatted Capacity , select a drive and click Format . Formatting Disk Function 3. A prompt displays to confirm, click OK to continue. The process continues. When it is complete, the Di sk Manager screen displays.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW A UTO M IRRORIN G 3-22 English 2. Install the HDD and replace the tray in the empty HDD bay . See Installing Hard Drives . 3. Power on your system. There is an audible beep and the HDD LEDs light. 4. Proceed with Enabl ing Auto Mirroring.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW S HARE M ANAGEMENT 3-23 English 2. Locate the HDD to replace and press the Release button until an audible beep sounds. Hot-swapping a Drive The corresponding LED no l onger displays to indicate the HDD is powered down. 3. Remove the tray and replac e the old HDD with a new one.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW A DDING F OLDERS 3-24 English Add Folder allows you to create a new fo lder . Y ou can determine public or private access rights. Share Adding Folder Screen T o create a Public folder: 1. In Share, click on Add Folder tab. 2. Enter a folder name and description.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW V IEWING F OLD ER LISTS 3-25 English Adding a Private Folder 5. Click Save . Y ou are automatically redirected to t he Folder List and th e new folder appears. Note: Private folder default acce ss for all users is None. Viewing Folder lists Folder List provides a view of all folders.
P RODUCT O VERVIEW V IEWING F OLD ER LISTS 3-26 English Editing Folders 1. In the Folder List tab, select a folder and click Edit to make changes. Y o u can change the share attribute (private, public), user access rights or basic description. 2. Click Save .

P RODUCT O VERVIEW S YSTEM L OG 3-28 English System Log The Log function under Settings pr ovides a history list of syst em and user log activity . The Log function allows access to Clear A ll Logs, Next Page and Last Page. Clear All Logs deletes all log entries.

Backup allows access to Backup Setting, Backup Setting List and Backup Log. Backup Log Screen Setting Up Backup Schedules The Backup Setting func tion allows you to add a scheduled backup.

P RODUCT O VERVIEW S ETTING D ATE AND T IME 3-35 English Setting Date and Time Change the date and time by using the Date & T ime f unction. Set T ime Zone allows you to choose from a list of locations. Set the date and time either through the net- work time server (NTP ) or from a browser .

P RODUCT O VERVIEW S HARE B OX 3-49 English Configuring Share Box Settings IMPORTANT: Make sure the port is open if you sele ct a non-default port number . The port must forward to the fix ed LAN IP of the OMNINAS so that connection to the Share Box service is possible.
