6 Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation Setting up the transmitter 왘 Place the transmitter so that: – there are no obstacles in th e light path between trans- mitter and receiver and – transmitter and receiver are not exposed to direct sunlight.
7 Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation Connecting the transmitter to a sound source 왘 Switch your sound source (e .g. TV) off before connecting the transmitter. 왘 Plug one end of th e connection cable I into the blue socket E of the transmitter.

Using the MKE 800 TV-N external microphone What if your sound source doesn’t have any of the connec - tions mentioned above? Y ou can then use the MKE 800 TV-N microphone.
10 Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation 왘 Press the microphone onto the V elcro tape. 왘 Connect the jack plug of th e microphone to the blue socket <BedienelementRoundNW>E of the transmitter. Note: You can change t he sound by va rying the position of the microphone in front of the loudspeaker.
11 Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation Connecting headphones or the induction loop for hearing aids to the receiver The socket 7 of the receiver al lows you to connect • an induction loop, • headphones or • a connection cable to your hearing aid.
12 Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation Connecting headphones 왘 Connect the 3.5 mm jack plu g of the headphones to the socket 7 of the receiver. W earing the rece iver In order to wear the receiv er, you can use the supplied lanyard P , the clip O or the induction loop.
13 Putting the Set 830 S-MKE into operation Attaching the receiver to clothing or belt If you want to attach the receiv er to your clothing or belt, use the attachment clip O . T o attach the receiver: T o remove the receiver: 왘 Attach the clip O to your clothing or belt.
14 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Using the Set 830 S-MKE system T o switch the Set 830 S-MKE system on, proceed as follows: Switching the transmitter on/off T o switch the transmitter on : 왘 Switch your s ound source on. The transmitter automatically switches on.
15 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Switching the receiver on/off T o switch the receiver off : 왘 Press the on/off button 3 until the channel indicator 1 goes off. Hearing damage due to high volumes! This receiver allows you to set higher volumes than convent ional headphones.
16 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Adjusting the volume Searching for a sound source 왘 Switch the receiver on. Do you hear the desired sound source? Ye s: The receiver has already found the sound source. 왘 If you have not yet found yo ur sound source, press the channel search button once more.
17 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Adjusting the balance Switching between mono and stereo operation If, despite a correct balance adjustment, you can hear the sound only with one ear: Meaning of the terms “mono” and “stereo” The balance control al lows for right/lef t volume adjustment.
18 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Individually enhancing the speech intelligibility 왘 Press the “speech inte lligibility” button C until the sound is optimally adjusted to your needs. If necessary, you c an have the speech in telligibility fine adjusted to your hearing ability (see page 27 ).
19 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Storing and charging the receiver Notes: – With a fully charged battery, the operating time is up to 12 hours . – If you have several receivers, they can be used during charging. – Always store the receiver in the transmitter’s charging compartment 8 to ensure that it is fully charged.
20 Using the Set 830 S-MKE system Charging a rechargeable battery in the transmitter’s charging compartment You can charge the receiver’s rechargeable battery or a spare BA 300 rechargeable battery (not included in the delivery of the Set 830 S-MKE) in the charging compartment 9 at the side of the transmitter .

25 If a problem occurs ... You cannot hear anything Possible cause Solution Is there a fr ee line of sight between receiver and trans - mitter? Remove obstacles in the light path between receiver and transmitter. Are transmitter and receiver exposed to direct sunlight? A void exposure to direct sunlight.
26 If a problem occurs ... You hear the sound on ly with one ear The sound of your sound so urce is hardly intelligible Possible cause Solution Is the balance adjusted correctly? T u rn the balance control 4 to the lef t or right (see page 17 ).

28 Additional technica l information volume differences by boosting the volume of quiet sounds and reducing the volume of loud so unds if necessary. Compression seems to put the speech in the fo reground, making it easier to under stand. Compression is self-regulating; once it has been activated, it is not necessary to make any other settings.
