29 2 INTRODUCTION Ŷ Read this manual caref ully before using the appliance and follow the inst ructions for safety operation. Ŷ Sanyo never guarantee any safety if the ap pliance is used for any objects ot her than intended use or used by any procedures other than those mentioned in this manual .
30 3 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION It is imperative that the user complies with this manual as it contains important safety advice. Items and procedures are described so that you can use this unit correctly and safely. If the precautions advised are followed, this will prevent possible injury to the user and any other person.
31 4 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION Do not use the unit outdoors. Current leakage or electric shock may result if the unit is exposed to rain water. Only qualified engineers or serv ice personnel should install the unit. The installation by unqualified personnel may cause electric shock or fire.
32 5 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION Ensure you do not inhale or consume medication or aero sols from around the unit at the time of maintenance. These may be harmful to your health. Never splash water directly onto the unit as this may cause el ectric shock or short ci rcuit.
33 6 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION Use a dedicated po wer source (a dedicated circui t with a breaker) as indica ted on the rating label attached to the unit. A branched circuit may cause fire re sulting from abnormal heating. Connect the po wer supply plug to the power source firmly after removing the dust on the plug.
34 7 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS This equipment is designe d to be safe at least under the following conditions (ba sed on the IEC-1010-1): Ŷ Indoor use; Ŷ Altitude up to 2000 m; Ŷ Ambient temperature.

36 9 FREEZER COMPONENTS 1. Lock 2. Door: Hinged type. The door can be opened in any angle on the way to full open. 3. Magnetic door gasket: Seals the door and prevents leakage of cold ai r. 4. Inner lid: Serves as a means of re ducing cold air leakage whe n the door is open.
37 10 FREEZER COMPONENTS Control panel 1. Power switch (POWER): Power all functions except remote alarm an d back-up system (Option). 2. Battery switch: It is the switch of the battery for the power fai lure alarm. Turn it on usually. Turn it off when you do not drive for a long time.
38 11 INSTALLATION SITE T o operate this unit properly and to obtain maximum performance, install th e unit in a location with the following conditions: Ŷ A location not subjected to direct sunlight Do not install the unit under direct sunlight. Installation in a location subjected to direct sunlight can not obtain the intended performance.
39 12 INSTALLATION 1. Removing the packaging materials and tapes Remove all transportation packaging m aterials and tapes. Open the doors and ventilate the unit. If the outside panels a re dirty, clean them with a diluted neutral dish washing detergent.
40 13 START-UP OF UNIT Follow the procedures for the initial and consequent operations of the unit. 1. Make sure that all the switches on th e control panel, such as the power switch, the battery switch, the back-up system switch (option) are off. 2. Liquid CO 2 gas cylinder is set at this time.
41 14 CHAMBER TEMPERATURE SETTING Table 1 shows the basic operation method. Perform key operations in the sequence indicated in the table. The example in the table is based on the assu mption that the temperature is -70 o C. Note: The unit is set at the factory that the chamber temperature is -80 o C.
42 15 ALARM TEMPERATURE SETTING This unit is provided with the high temperature ala rm. The setting of high temperature alarm is 10 o C or 15 o C higher than the setting of chamb er temperature. The procedure in table 2 sho ws the sequence to set the high temperature alarm at 15 o C higher than the setting of chamber temperature.
43 16 SETTING OF ALARM RESUME TIME The alarm buzzer is silenced by pre ssing alarm buzzer stop key (BUZZER) on the control panel during alarm. The buzzer will be activated again after ce rtain suspensi on if the alarm condition is continued. Th e suspension time can be se t by following the procedure shown in the table 3 belo w.

45 18 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WARNING Always disconnect the po wer supply to the unit prior to any repair or maintenance of the unit in order to prevent electric shock o r injury. Ensure you do not inhal e or consume medication or aerosols from aro und the unit at the time of maintenance.
46 19 REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY Location of a nickel-cadmium batter y This unit is provided a nickel-cadmium battery for the power failure alarm. The battery is located in the control box behind the con trol panel.(Fig. 1) The high voltage components are enclo sed in the control box.
47 20 TROUBLESHOOTING If the unit malfunctions, check out the following before calling for service. Malfunction Check/Remedy The chamber is not cooled at all 㩵 The voltage is too low. (In this case, call an ele ctrician.) 㩵 The breaker is free. 㩵 The fuse is blown.
48 21 DISPOSAL OF UNIT WARNING If the unit is to be stored unused in an unsupervised area for an extended peri od ensure that children do not have access and doors canno t be closed completely. The disposal of the unit should be accomplished by appropriate perso nnel.
