English 6 BEFORE MOUNTING Y OUR CAMERA The fo llowing is an e xplanation of the f ormat of data recorded by y our camera, as well as the configuration of dir ectories in the card. Cautions when using the camera as an e xternal drive i Do not alter files or folders in y our camera in any w ay .
7 English Configuration of directories in the card * Up to 9,999 file s can be store d in f older 100SANY O. If more f iles are made , a folder named 101SANY O is created, and the y will be stored in th ere. Ne w folde rs will then be named in sequence, i.
English 8 Setting to the car d reader mode (or mobile viewer mode ) 1 Start your computer , and use the supplied USB interface cable to connect your camera to the computer . h Connect the camera’ s USB terminal to the computer’ s USB connector . 2 T u rn on the camera (see page 28 in the camera’ s instruction manual).
9 English CA UTION Insert and pull out the cable carefully i When connecting the ca bles , make su re that the cab le plugs are correctly oriented and that the y match the shapes of the terminal sock ets on the devices . Push the plugs in straight when con necting them.
English 10 For Windows XP/Vista users Mounting y our camera 1 Set the camera to the car d reader mode (page 8). h The card is recognized (mounted) as a disk, and the [XACTI (E: )] (or [XA CTI_INT (E:)] in case of the camera’ s internal memor y) window opens.
11 English For Windows 2000 user s Mounting y our camera 1 Set the camera to the car d reader mode (page 8). h If a message ap pears on the compu ter monitor inst ructing you to load the Windows CD-R OM, follo w the instructions and install the driv er .
English 12 For Mac OS X users Mounting y our camera 1 Set the camera to the car d reader mode (page 8). h The camera is recogniz ed as a drive and appears as an icon named [XACTI] (or [XACTI_INT] in case of the camera’s internal memo ry ) on the Desktop.

English 14 Windows 1 Insert the CD-ROM (SANY O Software P ack Disc 1 or 2) i n your computer’ s CD-ROM drive. h The installati on window soon appears . h If the installation windo w does not appear , double-click on t he CD- ROM icon in t he [My Computer] windo w , and doub le-click on [ Aut orun] or [A utorun.
15 English Macintosh 1 Insert the CD-ROM (SANY O Software Pac k Disc 1) in y our computer’ s CD-ROM drive. h The CD-ROM wind ow will open after a f ew secon ds. h If the window does not open, doub le-click on the CD-ROM icon [Sany oDSC] on the Desktop .
English 16 HO W T O USE Photo Explorer T o copy data from y our camera t o your comp uter , when you open the driv e f or your camer a from [My Computer], options are shown f or copying dat a to your computer and f or using Photo Explorer to cop y data.
17 English Copying ima ge data to a computer Copy image files to your computer from the camera’ s internal memor y or the card installed in y our camera. 1 Set the camera to the car d reader mode (page 8). 2 Run Photo Explorer . 3 Click on the digital camera wizard icon on the toolbar .
English 18 Photo Explo rer features With the Photo Explorer y ou hav e visually integrat ed control ov er multiple files, from camer a images to D V camcor der video file s to audio files (such as MP3 and W AV f iles). k Manage and edit image files Viewing images Images can be vie wed full-siz e or full- screen.
19 English SCREEN CAPTURE Individual windows on y our computer’ s monitor display can be sa ved in the camera. Activ ating the Scree n Capture mode 1 Start your computer , and use the supplied USB interface cable to connect your camera to the computer .
English 20 Saving t he computer scr een image in your camera 1 Run Screen Capture. h Screen Capture is automatically laun ched when you start your computer . <T o quit Screen Capture> h Right-clic k on [Xacti Screen Capture 1.1] in the task tr ay , and then left- click on [Exit].
21 English USING AS A PC CAMERA If running Windo ws XP , yo u can connect the camer a to a compute r and use it as a PC camera. Bef ore using y our camera as a PC camer a, please install Windows XP SP2. The PC camera functions can be used with Windows Messeng er 5.
English 22 Connect your camera t o a computer 1 Start your computer , and use the supplied USB interface cable to connect your camera to the computer . h Connect the camera’ s USB terminal to the computer’ s USB connector . 2 T urn on the camera (see page 28 in the ca mera’ s ins truction manual).

English 24 CONNECTING IN THE MTP MODE If Window s Vista is yo ur computer’ s operating system, y ou can connect y our camera in the MTP mode . 1 Start your computer , and use the supplied USB interface cable to connect your camera to the computer . h Connect the camera’ s USB terminal to the computer’ s USB connector .
