Using this guide This Quick Start Guide has been specially designed to guide you through the functions and features of y o ur dev ice. Instructio n al icons Before you start, familiarise yourself with.
1 Safety and usage information Comply with the following pre cautions to avoid dangerous or ille gal situations and en su re pe ak performance of you r device. Keep your device away from small children and pets K eep y our dev ice and all access ories out of the reach of small children or anim als .
2 Avoid interference with pacemakers Maintain a m inimum of 15 c m (6 inches) between mobile devices and pacemakers to avoid potential in terference, as recommended by manufacturers and t he independent r esearch group, Wireless T echnology Research.
3 Use only Samsung-approved accessories Using incom patib le ac ce ss or ies m a y dam a g e your d evice o r cause injury . Turn off the device near medica l equipment Y our device can interfere with medical equipment in hospi tals or health car e facilities .
4 Handle your device carefully a nd sensib ly • Do no t allow yo ur device to get we t—liqu ids can cause seri ous damage. Do not handle your device with wet hands. 5 Ensure maximum battery and charger life • Av oid charging batteries for more than a week, as overcharging may shorten battery life. • Over time, unused batteries will discharge and must be recharged before use . • Disconnect chargers fr om power sources when not in use.

12 Use the touch screen Y ou can perform the following acti ons on your device’s touch screen: T ap: T ouch the screen once to select commands or launch applications. T a p-and-hold: T ap and hol d an item to see a list of availabl e actions. T ap the action y o u want to perform on the po p- up menu.
13 Assemble and prepare your device Insert the SIM card and battery 1. Re m ov e th e battery co ver . 2. Insert the SIM card. Insert the SIM card with the gold- coloured co n tacts facing th e device.

16 Turn on your device for the first time 1. Press and hold [ ] to turn on yo ur device. 2. Follow the onscreen instructions. Y our device will automatically connect to the cellular network.
17 Learn how to get started 1. From the T oday screen, tap Start → Programs → Getting Started . 2. T ap the item you want to lear n how to set up. Use widgets Use widgets on the T oday screen. Open the toolbar T ap the arrow at th e bottom l e ft of the T oday screen to open the tool bar .
