Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to start using your phone. Under standing this User Manual The chapters of this guide genera lly follow the sam e order as the menus and sub-menus in your phone. 7 T ur ning Y our Ph one Off 䊳 With the phone c losed, press and hold the key for two or more seconds. Note: If your phone is on and you press for less than one second, the phone does not power off. This prevents you from accidentally turning off the phone.

Call Functions 14 Section 3: Call Functions This section provides procedur es for making and answering calls, and for reviewing your call tim e. Tip : When using the QWERTY keypad with Call Functions, it is recommended that you also use an optional headset or an optional handsfree car kit or that you place your phone in Speakerphone mode.

Call Functions 16 Call Waiting If you’re on a call, your phon e beeps when you receiv e a second call. Call Wai ting le ts you answe r the seco nd call and a lternate between both calls. Note: Contact your Wireless Carrier for feature a vailability .

Call Functions 18 Red ialing the Last Number Called 䊳 Press twice to reca ll and redial the last number listed in the Call log. Call Timers The Call Timer screen displ ays the duration of your last cal l, total calls, and calls made during the life of your pho ne.

Understanding Y o ur Contacts 28 Adding a Contact to a G roup When you create a new contact you can associate that contact with a predef ined call er group. 1. In Standby mode, press Contacts . 2. Press Options ➔ New Contact . Fo r more information on crea ting a new cont act see “Crea ting a New Contact” on page 27.

37 R eceiving Messages When you receive a messa ge, your phone notifies you in one of the following ways: • In Standby mode : The ringer sounds (unless turned off) a nd New Message displays on the sc reen along with the c losed env elope icon () . • During a call : New Message displays on the screen along with the cl osed envelope ico n ( ).
@metro and Applications 38 Section 8: @metro and Applications Y our phone inc ludes special appl ications, whi ch are pre-lo aded or downloadable to your phone . These applications include: @metro — Browse and download new apps for your phone. Avai lable from the shortcut bar .

41 Exit Me troWEB 䊳 Press or close the QWERTY keypad to exit MetroWEB . Using MetroWEB When you use MetroWEB, some of the k eys operate diff erently than during a normal phone call . MetroWEB presents on -screen items in an y of the foll owing wa ys: • T ext or numeric input.
MetroWEB 42 End : Press to ex it the MetroWEB and return the phone to Standby mode. Left Soft Key : Press to acti vate the c ommand tha t appears above it in the display . Right S oft Key : Press to ac tivate the command that appears above it in the display .
43 Section 10: V oice SV C This section explains how you can use and customize you r phone’ s Voice SVC voic e recognition feature. V oice Ser vice Y our phone includes Nuance V suite, state-of-t he-art voice recognition software th at lets you use your voice to dial number s, access your Contacts list, a nd open T ools.
Voice SV C 44 Note: Speaking clearly , say the command that you want to use. If VoiceSignal does not recognize a command, it prompts you to repeat the command. If VoiceSignal still does not recognized the command, it tells you “ Sorry , no match found ” and cancels voice recognition.
45 Choice Lists When Vsuit e cannot rec ognize a name or number , it displays a choice list of up to three possibl e choices, an d prompts you to confirm the co rrect one.
Voice SV C 46 After a moment, the phone pl ays back the recording and prompts “ Did th e recording s ound ok? ” 5. Say Ye s to approve the recordin g, or No to re-record. If you say “ No , ” the phone prompts you to pronounce the digits again.

Multimedia 52 Section 12: Multimedia Use your phone’ s Camera to take full color digital pictures, display them on your phone’ s vi vid color display , and instantly share them with fa mily and friends. With Mobile Shop, you can down load personalized ringtones, pictures, and more.
53 • Vi ew by Location : Allows you to sort and view im ages by location. • Rename : Change the name of the picture. • Picture Info : View the Name, D ate and Tim e created, Resolution, and Size of the currently highl ighted or displayed image.
Multimedia 54 Playi ng Musi c 1. In Standby mode, press Menu ➔ Multimed ia ➔ Music Player ➔ Libary / Now playi ng / All / Artis ts / Albums / Genres / Recently added / Playlists . 2. Highlight a song, press MARK ( ), then press Play . The Music Player screen displays o n the scree n and th e selected music f ile/pla ylist begins playing.
55 Loadi ng Mus ic Fi les T o transfer music to a micr oSD™ Memory Card, do the following: 1. Insert a memor y card in to the phone. (For more information, see “Install a Memory Card” on page 8.) 2. T urn on the phone and when th e memory card icon displays, remove th e memory card from the phone.
T ools 56 Section 13: T ools This section explains how you ca n use your p hone’ s Pe rsonal Information Manager (PIM) funct ions to view today’ s calendar , schedule appointments, set an alarm, perform simple ma th calculations, and more.

65 Langua ge The Language option lets you select the language ( English or Español ) of menus, sub-menus, and other user -interface features. Security Use the Security sub-menu to lock your phone, set up emerg e nc y numbers, enable or disable voice privacy , set restrictions, and other security options.
Settings 66 Emer gency # The Emergency # option lets you ent er and store up to thre e emergenc y numbers in your phone . Each number can be up to 32 digits long. Y ou can dial your emergency numbers any time, even when your phone is lo cked or restricted.
67 NAM S el ec t io n The NAM Selection option lets you select your preferred system ( NAM 1 or NAM 2 ), provided your phone has a NAM 2 numb er programmed into it.
