20 Section 2 Command Keys Powering On T o power up the i730, pr ess the key down until the backlight comes on. The PDA Pow er key is located on the lower left side of you r phone. Note: If you push the PDA P ower key to its upper position, you will lock all keys, except for Send/End/Volume, whic h wor k during calls.

26 Section 2 Indicates the key is lo cked. Battery The i730 comes with a standard rechar geable battery , power accessory , and headset. Note: The battery for the i730 can be charged before it is fully drained without causin g damage. Install the Batter y 1.

28 Section 2 Checking Battery Charge Keeping track of the battery’s char ge is important. If the battery level becomes too low , your phone automatically shuts down and you could los e important data. For a quick check of your phone’s battery level, tap the battery icon .

30 Section 3 Making a Call There ar e several ways to make calls on your new i730. Y ou can use speed dial, voice dial, ca ll history , or simply enter the desired number and tap . Note: Keys, such as , are referred to as “soft” keys because they are not part of the hardware.

V oiceSignal softwar e automatically voi ce activates all numbers in your Contacts for voice diali ng or searching, and no pr e-recording or training is needed.
Section 3: Call Functions 39 VoiceSignal™ Section 3 Call a Name or Number The Call command le ts you dial a per son by saying the name you’ve stor ed for that person in your contact list or by saying the telephone number ’s digits, even if you have not saved the number in contacts.

56 Section 5 Built-in QWER TY Keypad Y our i730 has a built-in standard typing keypad, commonly called QWE RTY , which ca n be accessed when you extend the slide to it up position. Using this ke ypad, you can type letters, punctu ation, numbers, and other special characters into text entry fields or other applications available on your Pocket PC.
Section 5: Entering T ext 57 Selecting T ext Input Mode Section 5 Block Recognizer This input method uses the traditional writing ar ea box split in th e middle.
58 Section 5 Letter Recognizer This option allows you to enter text using your own handwriting. The scr een is divided into t hree dif ferent areas. A capital letter ar ea, small letter area, and a number area. Characters ar e entered by printing letters in each area.

104 Section 9 Preferences There ar e several options in Picsel Br owser that you can adjust according to your pref er ences. While most of them are a matter of choice, such as the number of days after which items ar e removed fr om the history list , some affect proper operation of the applic ation.
