Note: The no ser vice indicator will alwa ys appears when you turn on you r phone. This is not a problem. It just indicates that yo ur phone is searching f or service. 6JTGG9C[%CNNKP I Note: See y our ser vice provider about activating Three-W ay Calling ser vice. Three-W ay Calling l ets you conduct confer ence calls with tw o different parties at the same time. The phone reco rds each party into the Outgoing Calls Log.

'OGTIGPE[ &KCNKPI Y ou can place calls to 911 even if your phone is locked or outgoing calls are r estricted (see “Lock Mode” on page 72).
2CWUG&KCNKPI When you call an automated system (like a bank or voicemail “teleservice”), you are us ually requir ed to enter a passwo rd or account number . Instead of entering the numbers manually each time, y ou can store the numbers in your Phone Book, separ ated by special c haracters called pau ses.
2CWUG&KCNKPI( TQOC5VQ TGF2JQPG$Q QM' PVT[ P ause dialing from y our Phone Book is easy: 1. Dial th e te lese r vic e numb er from your pho ne bo ok in the wa y you pref er (use the turbo dial or scr oll to it method).
$CUKE5GVWRQH;Q WT2JQ PG #WVQOCVKE4GVT[ This f eature allows you to continue tr ying number s that you don’t reach succes sfully . The phone will automatically r edial a failed call until it connects. This feature is pr eset to “OFF” on your phon e.
#WVQOCVKE*[ RJGPCVKQP When you dial a number , hyphenation is perfo rmed automatically by the phone. The automatic hyphenation f ollows the North Am erican Numbering Plan, which h yphenates numbers as follo ws: ♦ 800-555-1234 Digits f ollowing a pause are not h yphenated (see “P ause Dialing” o n page 28).
6QPG.GP IVJ5GVVKPI The tone length set ting enables y ou to select short or long DTMF (dual-to ne multi-frequ ency) tones. When y ou use a teleservice (such as your bank account or voicemail service) and press the keys to enter numbers into the teleser vice, yo u are sending DTMF tones.

5[UVGO5GNGEVKQP The system selectio n featur e of your phone enabl es you to choose how your phone will ro am. There are four c hoices, and they will affect y our cha rges, so con tact your s er vice provider to determ ine the best roaming methods for you.
*QYVQ5GVW R(QT C8QKEG&CVCQT(CZ%CNN When you want to receiv e a data or f ax call, yo u must set the phone to do this. When you are done with your data o r fax call, you mus t change this s etting back to v oice to receive voice calls again.
5GVVKPIWRC( QTEGF# PCNQI%CNN If you cannot place a call in digital mode due to weak cov erage, then t his featur e allows y ou to tr y placing the call in an alog m ode. T o ma ke a call in analog mode: 1. Press to displa y the M ain Menu.
#WFKDNG #NGT VU Y our phone gives audibl e alerts (beeps) at cer tain times to info r m you that certain things have happened. There are f our of these beep alerts and the y only occu r in your earpiece so the other party do es not hear them.

2GTUQPCN)TGGVKPI Y ou can create and displa y a 12-character personal greeting that displays in Stan dby mo de and when you turn on the phone. T o create a per sonal greeting: 1. Press to display t he Main Menu. 2. Press fo r Display . 3. Press for Greeting.
5. Use the scroll keys to select the imag e. P ower on images can be “Flaw less”, “Space”, or Ear th Spin”. P ower off images can be “Wink” or “ByeBye” .

4KPI GT 1RVKQPU Y our Samsung phone pro vides a variety of r inge r options. These ring er options allo w you t o customize the type of ring (vibrat e, bell, or lamp) and the v olume of the selecte d ring type. Also, the Differential Ring featur e alows you to know when someone important is calling you.
5. Press the scroll keys to scan the available options (BELL, LAMP , VIBRA TE, and VI B+BELL). 6. When the desired r ing type sounds , press to save the setting. If you chose VIBRA TE or VI B+BELL, the phone vibrates and ret urns t o Standby mo de.

8QKEG/GOQ Y our Samsung phone can recor d five V oice Memos when in digital mode. Eac h voic e memo can be up t o one minut e in length. When recording, a 60-second timer displays and an alert sounds to indica te when recording time e xpires.
4GXKGYKPIC8Q KEG/GOQ T o review a voice memo: 1. Press to display the V oice Memo menu. 2. Press for Review . The phone displays the label fo r V oice Memo 1, begin s to play V oice Memo 1, and displays a list of reviewing o ptions.
8QKEG#EVKXCVGF&KCNKPI Y our phone featur es V o ice-Activated Dialing. When your phone is in digital mode, you can call up to 20 stored entr ies by speaking the name into the m icrophone. Using the V oice- Activated Dialing option requ ires that you f irst train the phone to recognize the name of t he per son you are calling.
2TQITCOVJG2JQ PGHQ T8QKEG#EVKXCVGF&KCNKPI Progr amming your phone for V oice-Activated Dialing is easy . The phone provides voice prompts and screen displa ys to guide you thr ough the recording pr ocess.
8QKEG&KCNKPI# EVKXCVKQP V oice dia ling is alwa ys active once you hav e programmed the phone to accept voice dialing entries. By default, pressing and holding wil l activate a voice dial call. Y ou can also initiate a voice dialing call by op ening the phone, when you select this opt ion through the Main Menu.

T o access the Security menu fr om Standb y mode, press , , and then enter the four-digit lock code (the lock code is set at the factor y to “0000”).
T o place a n outgoing call in Lock mode: ♦ T o call an emergency or priority number , enter the number and then pr ess . Y ou must dial the number e xactl y as it is stored or yo u will get an error message; “Priority # D ialing Only” .
♦ ON PO WER-UP: The p hone locks automatically the ne xt time y our phone is turned on and st ays lo cked until t he lock code is entered. 5. Press to save the settin g. 7PNQEMKPIVJ G2JQPG T o unlock the phone, press and enter the lock code.
