RULES FOR SAFE OPERA TION 5 • The cutting attachment shield must always be in place while operating the unit. Do not operate unit without both trimming lines extended, and the proper line installed. Do not extend the trimming line beyond the length of the shield.

6. While holding the unit in the operating position (Fig. 3), position the J-handle to the location that provides you the best grip. 7. Tighten the clamp screws evenly, until the J-handle is secure. OIL AND FUEL INFORMA TION ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 12 RECOMMENDED OIL TYPE Using the proper type and weight of oil in the crankcase is extremely important. Check the oil before each use and change the oil regularly. Failure to use the correct oil, or using dirty oil, can cause premature engine wear and failure.

Using the wrong hole could lead to personal injury , or damage to the unit.
OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 16 Each time the head is bumped, about 1 inch (25.4 mm.) of trimming line is released. A blade in the cutting attachment shield will cut the line to the proper length if excess line is released. For best results, tap the Bump Head ™ on bare ground or hard soil.

Insert each end of the line through one of the two holes in the inner reel (Fig. 35). Pull the line through the inner reel so that the loop is as small as possible.
