4 INTRODUCTION DESCRIPTION Thank you for choosing the Russound ST2-XM Smart T uner . Whether you are adding radio to an existing system, expanding a CAi Series system or taking advantage of the CAV6.6’ s robust RNET™ communication link, the ST2-XM T uner is designed to meet your needs.

9 ST2-XM SETUP AND CONNECTIONS BASIC CONNECTIONS Power T o power the tuner , connect the 12VDC external power supply by inserting the power supply jack into the power supply connection on the tuner’ s rear panel. Audio Output Connect one end of a dual RCA audio cable to the T uner 1 Audio Output connection.

13 ST2-XM SETUP AND CONNECTIONS ANTENNA CONNECTIONS Gr ounding an Outdoor Antenna If the tuner is used with an outdoor antenna, the antenna must be grounded against static char ges and voltage sur ges. Consult the instructions that came with the antenna or contact the antenna manu- facturer for pr oper installation instructions.
XM Radio Activation XM Radio is over 100 channels of radio broadcasts with the signal deliver ed by satellite and (depend- ing on location) transferred by terr estrial antennas. The radio is a subscription-based service with a monthly provider fee and an activation char ge.
15 ST2-XM OPERA TION XM RADIO MODES XM Radio Modes There ar e four user “modes” for selecting music and viewing music information on the XM T uner: Preset (default or normal) Category Search Now Playing Display Prefer ences . These modes are accessed thr ough cer tain button and key presses fr om the tuner panel, remote controls and keypads.

17 Category Search Mode ( 1 1 . . C C A A T T S S E E A A R R C C H H ) XM Radio is or ganized by Channel Category (e.g., Rock, Country, News ). W ithin each category is a series of channels (e.g., T op T racks, Bluegrass Junction, XM Classics). Channel selection in this mode is refined to scr olling only those channels in the selected category .

19 Front Panel Operation T urning the unit on T o turn the unit on, push the On/Off button up on the front panel. Pushing the On/Off button down turns the tuner off. Selecting the desired tuner From the fr ont panel, use to toggle between XM and AM/FM.
20 ST2-XM OPERA TION ST2-RC REMOTE CONTROL ST2-RC Remote Control Operation The ST2-RC remote contr ol is the only means of remote operation of the ST2-XM in a non--RNET sys- tem. The ST2-XM front panel displays information for the tuner that is receiving commands fr om the ST2- RC.
21 ST2-XM OPERA TION ST2-KP KEYP AD CONTROLS ST2-KP Keypad Operation T urning the keypad on/of f T o activate the ST2-KP , press . Pr ess to power down the keypad display . The keypad remains powered until the ST2-XM T uner is turned off. Selecting the desired tuner T o select a different tuner , press and hold .
22 ST2-XM OPERA TION UNO-S2 KEYP AD CONTROLS WITH CAV6.6 CAV6.6-UNO-S2 Keypad Operation NOTE: To control the ST2 Tuner through the UNO-S2 keypad, the tuner must be configured as a source using the CAV6.6 programming steps. T urning the unit on The tuner is power managed by the CAV6.
23 ST2-XM OPERA TION UNO-S2 KEYP AD CONTROLS WITH CAV6.6 TUNER SELECTION - Select source number assigned to TUNER 1 (XM) or TUNER 2 (AM/FM) TUNE UP/DOWN - Used for manual station or channel selection .
24 UNO-LRC1 Remote Control Operation T urning the unit on The tuner is power managed by the CAV6.6 or other RNET -enabled controller . If the tuner is in standby mode, any button press of the UNO-LRC1 will bring the tuner out of standby mode when used with the UNO keypad.

26 ST2-XM T uner Setup Menus Note: The Setup Menu procedures must be performed from the ST2-XM Tuner front panel. The ST2-XM T uner Setup Menus provide setup and naming pr ocedures for the ST2-XM main chassis, the XM tuner module and the AM/FM tuner module.

28 System Info (Chassis) The System Info menu shows the ST2 T uner’ s manufacturing build properties. 1. Enter the Setup Menu by pressing and holding the TNR SEL button. 2. TUNER SETUP appears. Press MEM Up/Down until SYSTEM INFO appears on the tuner .
29 ST2-XM TUNER PROGRAMMING ST2 TUNER SETUP MENU Tuner Setup Menu for XM It is important to select the desired tuner (Tuner 1 for XM) using the TNR SEL button BEFORE accessing the Tuner Setup Menus. Memory Name (XM) A memory preset must be created and saved before it can be named (see page 19).
