12 2. TERMS FOR DISCS TITLE The images or music contained on a CD are divide d into units. “Title” is the largest unit. Each Title is numbe red so it is p ossible to se arch a disc by Title. CHAPTER A Title is composed of several smaller un it s called “Chapters”.
13 3. BEFORE OPERA TING THE DVD PLA YER SAFETY INFORMATION • Read all of the safety and operating inst ructions before operating the system and retain fo r future reference. • Do not attempt to service, repair or modify the DVD Player. See your dealer for qualified service person nel.

Be especially careful not to spill liquids of any kind onto the media controls or into the system. 17 5. DVD PLA YER REMOTE CONTROL UNIT CONTROLS D1800 REMOTE CONTROL Remote Contr ol Button Layout 1. DVD DIGEST BUTT ON: ( Menu Button ) Play DVD disc and obtain the play ing status of DVD digest menu instructions. 2. PBC ON/OFF BUTTON: This is selected for playing back control for DISC play mode.

P AUSE/PLA Y BUTTON: When playing a d isc, pr ess the PAU SE/PLAY button to pause the play back of a movie temporarily then press the PAUSE/PLAY button to res tart the play back of the movie . 8. FB BUTTON: This button is used to fast reverse the play back of the movie at 2,4,6 and 8 times the normal playback speed.

21 6. CONNECTIONS CHARGING THE BATTERY 1. Connect the end of the supplied DC Power Adaptor cable to an AC wall outlet. 2. Connect th e other end of the supplied DC Power Adaptor cable to the 15V DC IN (DC IN) jack on the side of the D1800 jack. When the battery is charging, a red LED will light while charging.
22 CONNECTING THE D1800 TO A TV SET The Audio/Video Output Jacks are used to connect the D1800 to any TV/Mon itor that is equ ipped w ith Audio/Video Input Jacks. 1. Connect one end of th e supplied Audio/Video cable to all three off the color-coded Audio/Video Output Jacks on the back of the D1800 (Yellow=Video, Red and White=Audio).

25 9. BASIC D1800 OPERA TING PR OCEDURES The following describes how to play a disc in the D1800. 1. Press the “PUSH OPEN ” button to unlock and open the disc compartm ent cover . 2. Press the “POWER” button to power on the unit, the Power LED will light up to indicate that the unit is on and is reading the disc.

29 2. NO RMAL /LB This setting is selected when the unit is connect ed to a normal TV . W ide-screen images are shown on the screen, with black bands on the top and bottom. 3. WIDE This setting is selected when the unit is connected with a 16:9 wide-screen TV .

31 DUAL MONO The is the output mode of the L and R signals of the set audio output. If it is set to "MIXED MONO", the function only works when the DV D being played is 5.
32 AUDIO, S UBTITLES AND DISC MEN U LANGUAGE SETTINGS If a language mentioned above is r ecorded on the disc, you can select AUDIO, SUBTITLES or DISC MENU languages. If not, the language recorded on the disc is shown. P ARE NT AL The content of a disc with lock function is evaluated by grades.
33 11. V ARIOUS DIS C PLA Y MODES VOCAL ASSIST PLAY MODE In this mode you may select a desired language from a multi-language DVD. Y ou may also select the right channel or left channe l or stereo from a m ulti-channel CD.

36 17. TURN OFF PBC This function is only accessible when the unit is in stop mode, push PBC until the TFT LCD screen shows " PBC OFF ", then push "Enter button" to select tracks. 18. SUBTITLE PLA Y DVD When playing a multi-subtitle DVD you may select one subtitle to show it on the screen.

40 23. MP3 OPERA TIONS Playing MP3 Discs MP3 is a format for storing digital audio. An audio CD-quality song can be compressed into the MP3 format with very little loss of quality, while taking up much less space. CD-R discs that have been encoded in MP3 format can be played on your DV D player.
