The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed below r efers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

An exposed cutter may engage the surface leading to possible loss of control and serious injury . Use clamps or another practical way to secur e and support the workpiece to a stable platform.

9 FEA TURES KNOW YOUR HAND PLANER See Figure 1. The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the tool and in this operator’ s manual as wel l as a knowl edge of the pr ojec t you are att empt ing . Befor e use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules.
10 UNP ACKING This product has been shipped completely assembled. Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. Inspect the tool car efully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
11 WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with tools to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict sever e injury . WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating tools.
12 OPERA TION TO CHARGE A fully dischar ged battery pack with a temperature between 32°F (0°C) and 150°F (65°C) will char ge in about an hour . Charge the 24 V olt lithium-ion battery pack only with the char ger provided. � Connect the char ger to a power supply .

16 OPERA TION WARNING: Battery tools are always in operating condition. Therefor e, the switch should always be locked when not in use or carrying at your side. ST ARTING/STOPPING THE PLANER See Figure 9. T o start: Push the lock-off button from either side, and then depress the switch trigger .
17 OPERA TION AUTOMA TIC REAR ST AND See Figure 11. The planer has been equipped with an automatic rear stand that will prevent the blade from contacting the workbench when not in use. As you begin your planing operation, the stand will automatically retract as it passes over the edge of the workpiece.

19 OPERA TION CHAMFERING See Figure 14. The planer is designed with a chamfering gr oove in the fr ont shoe to chamfer edges of boards as shown. Befor e making a cut on good lumber , practice cutting on scrap lumber to determine the amount to be removed.

22 REPLACING BLADES See Figures 18 - 19. Always replace blades in pairs. Do not attempt to sharpen blades. If the blades become dull, replace them. When repl acing the blades, use rec ommended rep lacement blade only , RIDGID part number 671480001. WARNING: Blades are sharp.
23 MAINTENANCE REPLACING THE BEL T See Figures 20 - 21. When re placi ng the belt , use the recom mend ed r epla cemen t belt only , RIDGID part number 570279001. Remove the battery pack from the tool. Remove belt cover screws. Remove the belt cover .
