14 15 ASSEMBL Y UNP ACKING This product r equires assembly . n Carefully lift saw fr om the carton by the carrying handle and the saw base, and place it on a level work surface. NOTE: This tool is heavy . T o avoid back injury , lift with your legs, not your back, and get help when needed.
14 15 ASSEMBL Y ASSEMBLING LEG ST AND See Figures 9 - 10. n Separate brace pieces (letters A, C, D, and E) from leg pieces (letter E). Ther e are a total of 12 pieces: 8 brace pieces and 4 leg pieces. n Remove the following hardwar e from the leg stand hard- ware bag: 24 carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 5/8 in.
16 17 ASSEMBL Y Fig. 12 Fig. 10 LEG ST AND ASSEMBLED T ABLE EXTENSION See Figure 11. The table extension can be used on the left side of the miter saw . T o assemble and install the table extension: n Insert socket head scr ew and washer into the two holes in the side of the miter saw base.
16 17 ASSEMBL Y MITER LOCK HANDLE See Figure 13. T o install the miter lock handle, place the threaded stud on the end of the miter lock handle into the threaded hole in the control arm under miter table. T urn clockwise to tighten. DUST GUIDE See Figure 14.
18 19 WARNING: Before connecting saw to power source, make sure the blade or blade guard will not hit the work clamp or table extensions when cutting 35° to 45° angles. TO INST ALL BLADE See Figure 17. WARNING: A 12 in. blade is the maximum blade capacity of the saw .
18 19 ASSEMBL Y WARNING: Make sure the spindle lock button is not engaged befor e reconnecting saw into power source. Never engage spindle lock button when blade is rotating. Removing Y our Mark: Position the laser line near the left edge of your mark on the work surface in order to r emove the mark. T o Cut Y our Mark: Position the laser line near or over your mark on the work surface in order to cut the mark.

22 23 SQUARING THE BLADE TO THE M ITER T ABLE See Figures 25 - 28. n Unplug your saw . WARNING: Fai lur e to unplu g y our saw cou ld r esul t in acc ide nta l starting causing possible serious personal injury . n Pull the saw arm all the way down and engage the lock pin to hold the saw arm in transport position.
22 23 PIVOT ADJUSTMENTS NOTE: These adjustments were made at the factory and normally do not requir e readjustment. TRA VEL PIVOT ADJUSTMENT n The saw arm should rise completely to the up position by itself.
24 25 CUTTING WITH YOUR COMPOUND MITER SAW WARNING: When using a work clamp or C-clamp to secure your workpiece, clamp workpiece on one side of the blade only . The workpiece must remain free on one side of the blade to pr event the blade fr om binding in workpiece.
24 25 TO BEVEL CUT See Figures 30 - 32. A bevel cut is made by cutting across the grain of the workpiece with the blade angled to the workpiece. A straight bevel cut is made with the miter table set at the zero degree position and the blade set at an angle between -2 ° and 47 ° .

26 27 n Align the cutting line on the workpiece with the edge of saw blade. n G ras p t he stoc k fi rm ly with one ha nd and secu re it aga in st the fence. Use the optional work clamp or a C-clamp to secure the workpiece when possible. See Figure 33.
28 29 CUTTING COMPOUND MITERS T o aid in making the corr ect settings, the compound angle setting chart below has been provided. Since compound cuts are the most difficult to accurately obtain, trial cuts should be made in scrap material, and much thought and planning made, prior to making your requir ed cut.
28 29 When cutting crown molding by this meth od the bevel angle should be set at 33.85 °. The miter angle should be set at 31.62 ° either right or left, depending on the desired cut for the a ppl ica tio n. 30 31 CUTTING WARPED MA TERIAL See Figures 37 - 38. When cutting warped material, always make sur e it is posi- tioned on the miter table with the convex side against the fence as shown in figure 37. If the warped mat erial is positioned the wr ong way as shown in figure 38, it will pinch the blade near the completion of the cut.
