ASSEMBL Y A ssembly requires three persons. S et the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. N ote: The und ersi de o f th e tr eadm ill walk ing belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
7 3. Attach the Latch Housing (89) to the Left Upright (90) with two Latch Bolts (77). Do not overtighten the Latch Bolts. 3 90 89 77 95 1 08 8 6 86 88 99 90 2. Slide the Right Upright (95) fully onto the bracket on the Base (99). Be careful to avoid pinching your hands or t he Upright Wire Harness (108).
8 7. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Note: Extra hardware may be included. Keep the included hex keys in a secure place. The large hex key is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 25). To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill.
H OW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR T he chest pulse sensor consists of two components— the chest strap and the sensor unit (see the drawing below ). Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into one end of the sensor unit, as shown in the inset draw- ing.
10 THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
1 1 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button.
12 H OW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 1 1. Select the manual mode. When the key is in- serted, the manual mode will be selected and a track will appear in the matrix. If a pro- gram has been selected, remove the key and reinsert it to select the manual mode.
13 Follow your progress with the matrix and the displays. The matrix —When the manual mode is se- l ected, the matrix will show a track that rep- resents 1/4 mile. As you exercise, the i ndi- cat ors ar oun d t he track will light in succession until the entire track is lit.
14 Measure your heart rate if desired. You can measure your heart rate using either the handgrip pulse sensor or the chest pulse sensor. Note: If you hold the handgrip pulse sensor and w ear the chest pulse sensor at the same time, the console will not display your heart rate accurately.
15 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. S elect a preset program. To select a preset pro- gram, press the Programs button re- peatedly until one of the walking, jogging, or running indicators below the matrix lights.
16 The program will continue in this way until the speed setting for the last segme nt is shown in the C urrent Segment column and the last segment ends.
17 H OW TO CREATE A CUSTOM PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. S elect one of the custom programs. To select a custom program, press the Program button re- peatedly until one of the two Custom Program indicators lights.

19 H OW TO USE A HEART RATE PROGRAM Follow the steps below to use a heart rate program. Put on the chest pulse sensor. See the instructions on page 9. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. Select a heart rate program.
20 When the first segment ends, all target heart rate settings will move one column to the left. The tar- g et heart rate setting for the second segment will then be shown in the flashing Current Segment c olumn.
21 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE T he console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has b een used and the total number of miles that the walk- ing belt has moved. The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers as the unit of mea- surement for speed and distance.
22 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE B efore folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be permanently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
23 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down until it is past the latch pin. Then, slowly release the latch knob.
24 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on S OLUTION: a .
25 PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on S OLUTION: a . Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 10. b . If the walking belt is overtightened, treadmill perfor- mance may decrease and the walking belt may be permanently damaged.
