3 IMPORT ANT PRECAUTIONS 1. Before beginning any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems. 2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions.
4 20. Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running. Always remove the key , press the power switch into the off position (see the drawing on page 5 for the location of the power switch), and unplug the power cord when the treadmill is not in use.
5 Thank you for selecting the new REEBOK ® COMPETITOR R T 6.0 treadmill. The COMPETIT OR RT 6.0 treadmill provides an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before you use the treadmill.
6 P ART IDENTIFICA TION CHART Use the drawings below to identify small parts used for assembly . The number in parentheses below each draw- ing is the key number of the part, from the P ART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity used for assembly .
7 • Assembly requires two persons. • Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materialsuntilyounishallassemblysteps. • After shipping, there may be an oily substance on the exterior of the treadmill.
8 2. Identify the Left Upright (75), which is marked "Left." Have a second person hold the Left Upright near the Base (80). See the inset drawing.
9 4. Identify the Left and Right Base Covers (73, 74), which are marked either “Left” and “Right” or “L” and “R.” Slide the Left and Right Base Covers onto the Left and Right Uprights (75, 76) as shown. Remove the wire tie from the Upright Wire (70).
10 4 83 31 7 7 C 6 6. Set the Console Base (83) face down on a soft surface to avoid scratching the Console Base. Remove the two screws (C) from the Pulse Crossbar (31). Remove the Pulse Crossbar and discard the screws. Remove the four 5/16" x 5/8" Screws (7) from the Console Frame (87).
11 8. I MPORT ANT : T o avoid damaging the Pulse Crossbar (31), do not use power tools and do not overtighten the #10 x 3/4" Screws (13). Orient the Pulse Crossbar (31) as shown. Attach the Pulse Crossbar to the Handrails (71) with four #10 x 3/4" Screws (13) and four #10 Star W ashers (1 1).
12 10. Set the console assembly on the Handrails (71). Make sure that no wires are pinched. Insert the excess Upright Wire (70) behind the Console Frame (87). Attach the console assembly to the brackets on the Handrails (71) with the four 5/16" x 5/8" Screws (7) that you removed in step 6.
13 14 81 81 80 2 3 14. Attach a Wheel (81) to the Base (80) with a 3/8" x 2 1/2" Bolt (2) and a 3/8" Nut (3). Do not over- tighten the Nut; the Wheel must turn freely . Attach the other Wheel (81) in the same way . Lower the Frame (not shown) (see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 22).
14 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO CONNECT THE POWER CORD Use a Surge Suppressor Y our treadmill, like other electronic equipment, can be damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home’s power . V oltage surges, spikes, and noise interfer- ence can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off.
15 ETRB6921 1 (RBTL6921 1) FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjoyable. When you use the manual mode, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button.
16 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORT ANT : If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before you turn on the power . If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components.
17 5. Follow your progress with the displays. The matrix —When you select the manual mode, the matrix will display a track that rep- resents 1/4 mile (400 m). As you exercise, the indicators around the track will appear in suc- cession until the entire track appears.
18 HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16. 2. Select an onboard workout. T o select an onboard workout, press the T imed button, the Calories button, or the Distance button repeatedly until the desired workout appears in the display .
19 HOW TO USE THE WEIGHT LOSS CENTER 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16. 2. Select a weight loss workout. T o select a weight loss workout, press the 200 Cals button, the 300 Cals button, the 400 Cals button, or the 500 Cals button.
20 HOW TO USE AN IFIT WORKOUT T o purchase iFit cards at any time, go to www .iFit.com or call the telephone number on the front cover of this manual. iFit cards are also available at select stores. 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16.
21 THE INFORMA TION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total distance that the walking belt has moved and the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used. The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers to measure distance, and to turn on and turn off the display demo mode.
22 HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL T o avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: Y ou must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower , or move the treadmill.
23 Most treadmill problems can be solved by follow- ing the simple steps below . Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assis- tance is needed, see the front cover of this manual.
24 Lower the treadmill. Next, remove the three indicated #8 x 3/4" Screws (6). Carefully slide the Motor Hood (57) off. Locate the Reed Switch (54) and the Magnet (44) on the left side of the Pulley (43). T urn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
25 SYMPTOM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on a. If the walking belt is off-center , first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
26 EXERCISE GUIDELINES These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember , proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
