FRAME- Takes you to the pr eviou s fr ame when you’re playing a disc. GO BACK When you’re using the DV D Pl ayer’s menu system, press this button to return to the preceding menu screen.

A Ne w W ay o f L oo ki ng At T hi ngs In this section you’ll learn how to use your DVD Player to pl ay Digital Video Discs. Y ou’ll use the on-screen Info Display while you’r e playing a disc to use the differ en t playback features of each disc.
20 Playing Digital Video Disc s Lo ad in g an d Pl ay ing a Di s c Before you load a di sc , make sure that it is compatible with the player . The following discs CA NNOT be used wi th this player: • Vi deo CDs • Laserdiscs • CD-I, CD-ROM, CD-R, DVD-ROM • MiniDiscs • Discs recorded using other broadcast sta n dards (i.
21 Playing Digital Video Disc s Us in g a Di sc M e nu A disc is c a pable of having a menu—its own on-screen menu system is separate from the pl ayer’s menu system. The disc menu may allow you to cha n ge features such as language and playback settings.
22 Playing Digital Video Disc s Di sc P la yb ack F eat ur e s Fas t M otion P layba ck (Pi ctur e S can) T o scan through the disc when yo u’re playing it, use the Picture Scan feature. 1. Press the REVERSE or FOR W ARD button on the remote when you’re playing a disc.
23 Playing Digital Video Disc s Slow Motion Ba ckward Scanning backward does n’t provide as c lear of a picture as searc hing forward . The pi cture may ap pear “jum py . ” This is the nature o f MPEG-2, which is the digital v ideo data standard of the Motion Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) that allows more content to fit on one disc.

Y ou can sk ip to a speci fi c chapter by using the Chapter section in the Info Display.

Press I NFO on the remote. 2. Press the right arrow button until the Play Mode icon is highlighted, an d press OK.

43 Using the Feature s in the Menu System Rated Titles This part of DVD Limits lets you determine how your player will react to discs th a t contain movies that are rated (in the U.S.A. the Motion Pictures Association of America rates movies as G, PG, PG-13, etc .

63 Playing Audio CDs A•B Repeat Deser ves Some Extra Ins tr uction A•B Repeat let s yo u repeat a specific segment on the CD that yo u define. For example, i f yo u want to listen to a particular guitar riff within a song, yo u can set the A•B Rep eat to play that part of the song over and over .
Playing Audio CDs 64 Usi ng I ntro Scan IntroScan plays the first few second s of each track on the CD–similar to the scan feat u re that’s on many car radios. T o use IntroScan: 1. Press INFO on the remote. The Info Display appears. 2. Press the right arrow button to highlight the IntroScan icon.

67 Playing Audio CDs Dub Assist helps you reco rd a CD onto an audio cassette. Dub Ass is t Dub Assist hel p s you record a CD onto an audio cassette tape by determining the number of tracks that will fit on one side of the tape so you h ave time to turn the tape over to recor d on the other side.
