1 Thank you f or buying a Rangemaster hob. It should give y ou many years tr ouble -free cooking if installed and operated correctly . I t is impor tant that you r ead this section before you start, par ticularly if you have not used a ceramic hob bef ore .
2 Hob Car e Never c ook directly on the hob sur face. Do not use the hob sur face as a cutting board . Do not leave utensils , foodstuffs or combustible items on the hob when it is not is use (e.g . tea tow els, frying pans containing oil). Do not place plastic or aluminium foil , or plastic containers, on the hob.
3 2. Hob Overview The ceramic hob comprises of f our cook ing zones containing heating elements with differ ent ratings and diameters (Fig .2-1) , each with a residual heat indicator . Each zone is controlled via the t ouch sensitive contr ols with an audible signal when operated .
4 Alwa ys tak e care before t ouching the surface, even when the hob is turned off . It may be hotter than you think! Residual Heat Indicat or , ‘H’ After use, a cooking zone will remain hot f or a while as heat dissipates. When a hot cooking zone is switched off the residual heat indicator symbol , ‘H’ , will appear in the display .
5 T o reduce the power to a c ooking zone select the required zone, as indicat ed by the red dot in the displa y . Press the ‘–‘ key to reduce the po wer requir ed (Fig.2-8) . Note: The ‘–’ key has a repeat function: holding the key pressed down will r educe the power setting b y one level every 0.
6 T imer Function The timer has two settings: • Zone timer • Minute timer Zone timer This allows each c ooking zone to be set to cook up to a maximum of 99 minutes at a set pow er level. A t the end of the cooking time the zone will turn off automatically .
7 T urning off the timer alarm: At the end of the cooking time the hob will beep steadily for 2 minutes. P ress any key to stop the alarm. Deactivating the timer: Make sure that none of the cooking zones has been selected. Pr ess the timer and ‘–‘ keys simultaneously .
8 Cleaning burned-on spills Make sure that the residual heat indica tors are off and that the hob is cool. Remov e the excess burned-on substance with a single -edged razor scraper . Hold the scraper at an angle of about 30° to the surface and then scrape off the burned- on matter (F ig.
9 If there is an installation problem and I don’ t get m y original installer to come bac k to fix it, who pays? Y ou do. Service organisations will charge for their call- outs if they are correcting work carried out by your original installer .
