8 Browning Element This function uses the element in the top of the oven only . It is a useful func tion for the bro wning or nishing of pasta dishes, vegetables in sauc e, shepherds pie and lasagne , the item to be browned being already hot befor e switching to the top element.

15 5. Cleaning Y our C ooker Essential Informa tion Isolate the electricity supply before carrying out any major cleaning. Then allow the cooker to cool. NEVER use paint solvents , washing soda, caustic cleaners, biological powders , bleach, chlorine based bleach cleaners, coarse abr asives or salt.
16 Cleaning Burned-on Spills Make sure that the heat indicator ligh ts are o and that the hob is cool. Remov e the excess burned-on substance with a single -edged razor scraper . Hold the scraper at an angle of about 30° to the surface and then scrape o the burned- on matter (F ig.
17 C ontrol P anel and Doors Av oid using any abrasive cleaners , including cream cleaners, on the control panel . For best r esults, use a liquid detergent. The same cleaner can also be used on the doors. Alt ernatively , use a soft cloth wrung out in clean hot soapy water .
18 Cleaning T able Cleaners listed (T able 5-1) are av ailable from supermarkets or electrical retailers as stated. F or enamelled sur faces use a cleaner that is approved f or use on vitreous enamel. Regular cleaning is recommended. F or easier cleaning, wipe up any spillages immediately .
19 6. T roubleshooting Interference with and repairs to the hob MUST NO T be carried out by unqualied persons. Do not try to repair the hob as this ma y result in injur y and damage to the hob . Please arrange for repair b y a suitably competent person.
20 The ov en light is not working The bulb has probably blown. Y ou can buy a replacement bulb (which is not c overed under the guarantee) fr om most elec trical stores. A sk for an Edison screw tting 15 W 230 V lamp , FOR OVENS (Fig . 6.1) . I t must be a special bulb, hea t resistant to 300 °C.
