8 USING THE CB AS A BASE STATION Although this CB is designed for mobi le use, you can also use i t as a ba se sta- tion. For ba se-stat ion instal lation, y ou need a regu lated 12 -volt DC powe r sup- ply, such as Cat. No. 22 -504 ava ilable at your lo cal Ra dioSh ack sto re.

10 STANDING W AVE RATIO GUIDELINES The ide al standi ng wav e ratio (SWR) is 1:1, or a m eter re ading of 1 o n the S WR meter' s top sc ale. This r eading, howev er , can on ly be obt ained u nder lab orator y con- ditions. A SWR ratio of 1 .5:1 to 2:1 i s excellent for most mob ile CB ant enna appli ca- tions.
