3 T ELEPHONE FEATURES 900 MHz Operation — prov ides better sound and less interf erence than many other cordless phone s. Digital Spread Spec trum — provides the longest range and the utmost in se- curity. Frequencies are constan tly changing across the entire 900 MHz band, making it d ifficult for anyone to monitor your calls on scanner s.
4 Important: Cordless phones such as this one require AC power to operat e. When AC power is off, yo u cannot dial out or receive incoming calls using your TAD-733.

7 PREPARATION SELECTING A LOCATION You can place the phone on a desk top or table, or mou nt it on a standar d wall plate. Select a location that is: • near an accessible AC outlet • near a teleph.
8 4. Insert the supplied AC adapter ’s barrel plug into the DC 9V jack on the back of the base. 5. Route the adap ter ’s cord thr ough the strain relie f slot on the back of the base.
9 4. Snap the tabs at the wide end of th e bracket into place. 5. Plug the modular cord into the wall plate jack. Align the base’ s keyhole slots with the wall pla te studs and slide the base downward to secure it. 6. Plug the AC adapt er into a stand ard AC outlet.
10 4. T o charge the battery pack, p lace the handset on the base. The IN USE indicator flas hes for 1 second and the CHARGE indica tor auto- matically lights after 4 seconds. Recharge the b attery pack whe n the LOW BATT indicator on the ha ndset flashes.
11 • If the battery pack is completely dis- charged or the base loses powe r while the handset is awa y from it, place the handset on the base to re - set the security access-protection code. If it was the handset that lost power , recharge the battery pack.
12 You can still make or receive calls using this phone, and t elephones on the same line still ring when there is an incoming call. The IN USE indicat or on the base and the TALK indicator on the handset flash until you answer the call. To turn on t he base and handset ring- ers, set RINGER to ON .
13 2. Press CHANGE ( ) then CLOCK (8) . The T AD announ ces the cu rrently set day . 3. T o ch ange the day , re peatedly pr ess SKIP (6) to move for ward or REPEA T (4) to move b ackward. 4. Press CLOCK (8) . The T AD an- nounces th e hour an d “AM” or “PM.
14 T ELEPHONE OPERATION MAKING AND RECEIVING A CALL To make a call, lift the handset and press TA L K . When you hear the dial ton e, dial the desired p hone number o r memory number (see “Memory Dialing” on Page 16). To answer a call if the hand set is on the base, lift the handset and begin your conversatio n.
15 USING FLASH FLASH performs the electronic e quiva- lent of a swit chhook ope ration for spe cial services, such as Call Waiting. For example, if you have Ca ll Waiting, press FLASH to answer an in com ing ca ll without disconne cting the current call.
16 USING PAGE To page the pe rson with the handse t or to find the h andset, press PA G E on the base. The h andset beeps t wice for ab out 15 second s. To stop the h andset from beeping be- fore it automatica lly stops, press TA L K twice or pre ss PA G E .
17 Entering a Pause In some telephon e systems, you must dial an access code (9, for exampl e) and wait for a second dial ton e before you can dial an outside number . You can store the a ccess code with the phone number. However, you should also store a pause af ter the access code to allo w the outside lin e time to conn ect.
18 2. Place the headset o n your head with the earpiece over either e ar and ad- just the microphone bo om until it is about even with your ch in. 3. Hang the belt clip on your belt . 4. Use the handset t o make or receive calls. Notes : • Connecting a headset disco nnects the handset’ s earpiece and micro- phone.
19 T AD OPERATION SETTING THE T AD TO ANSWER CALLS The TAD-733 is ready to an swer and record calls wit h the prerecorded ou tgo- ing message as soon a s you connect it to AC power. To re cord your own ou tgo- ing message, see “Recording an Outgo - ing Message.
20 Note: FL flashes when the TAD’s mem- ory is full. You must delete some mes- sages before you can reco rd a new outgoing messag e. 1. Set the T AD to Answer-On to reco rd a new outgoing message, or An- nounce-Only to record the an- nouncement -only message.
21 ADJUSTING THE T AD’ S VO L U M E To adjust the TAD’s volume, repeatedly press VOLUME or on the base or handset . The base has eight volume levels. The handset has fo ur . Note : The base sounds a lo ng beep when it reache s the highest volume set- ting.
22 PLAYING MESSAGES After a new me ssage is reco rded, the TAD’s message counter window sho w s the total num ber of mess ages stored , and the REMOTE indica to r on the hand- set flashes. Th e message counter dis- play flashes if ther e are new messages in the message ce nter .
23 Note: You can replay a d eleted mes- sage by repeatedly p r essing REPEA T on the base or REPEAT ( 4 ) on the handset before the TAD anno unces “End of mes- sages.” To delete all pl ayed messages from a mailbox or the me ssage center , press DELETE then the mailbox or message center but ton.
24 REMOTE OPERATION While you are away fr om your home or office, you can use a to uch-tone phone or a pulse (rotary) phone with a pocket tone dial er to ente r your re mote oper a- tion security code.
25 Remote Commands Press: T o: 1 Record a memo to mail- box 1. 2 Record a memo to mail- box 2. 3 Record a mem o to the message ce nter . 7 Change the remot e oper- ation security code. 8 Set the day and time. 0 Record a new outgoing message. Set T AD answer on/o f f or announce-o nly .
26 T ROUBLESHOOTING We do not expect you to have any prob lems with your TAD- 733, but if you do, the fol- lowing suggestions might he lp. If you still have problems, disconnect the phone. If other phones on the s ame line work properly, t he fault is in t his phone or its insta llation.

28 REPLACING THE BATTERY PACK If you follow the in structions in “Connect- ing and Charging th e Handset Batt ery Pack” on Page 9 , the battery p ack should last about one ye ar. If the battery pack does not hold a charge f or more than 2 hours afte r an overnight charge, replace it with a 3.
29 THE FCC W ANTS Y OU TO KNOW In the unlikely event that your phone causes problems on th e phone line, the phone company can tempor arily discon- tinue your service.
