11 SETTI NG THE DIAL ING MODE Set T/P (Tone /Pulse) o n the bac k of the base for the type of ser vice you ha ve. If you are not sure which typ e you hav e, once the bat tery is full y charged, d o this test. 1. Set T/P to T . 2. Li ft the han dset, the n press TA L K and list en for the dial tone.
12 SETTING THE AREA CODE When you return a call fro m a Caller ID record (see “ Dialing N umber s from a Caller ID Recor d” on Page 21), your phone au tomaticall y dials 1, the ar ea code, and the number. T he ET-110 5 lets you stor e one local ar ea code and three neighbor hoo d a rea c ode s.
13 USING A HEADSET You can make or ans wer calls wi th hands-f ree conveni ence usin g an option- al head set that has a 3 / 32 -inc h (2. 5 mm) plug. We rec ommend Radi oShack Cat. No. 43-195, which is s peciall y design ed for use with the ET-11 05.
14 T ELEPHONE OPERATION MAKING AND RECEIVING A CALL To make a call, lift the handset and press TALK . PHONE d ispla ys. When t he TALK indicato r lights steadi ly and you hear the di al tone, dia l the desired pho ne number or mem ory number ( see “Memo- ry Dialin g” on Pag e 15).
15 • W e reco mmend you not use REDIAL to dial numbers that include a to ne entr y . This could result in a wrong number being dia led. (See “Usi ng T one Services on a Pul se Lin e. ”) • The redial mem or y does not sto re a flash entr y or any dig its entered af - ter you press FLAS H (see “Using Flash”).

17 Entering a P ause In some tel ephone sy stems, you mu st dial an a ccess c ode (9, fo r example) and wait for a se cond dial tone before you can dia l an outside nu mber. You can store the ac cess code with the phone number. Howe ver, you sho uld also store a pause a fter the ac cess cod e to allow the outside line time to conne ct.
