Keep in mind that the maximum weight capacity includes the combin ed wei ght of the user and any accessories mounted to the power chair.

Approach the curb or obstacle slow ly, and make sure the power chair is traveling perpendicular to the obstacle. See figure 2. 2. Increase the forward speed just before the front wheels come in contact with the obstacle.
14 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy 600 Series II. SAFETY Motor Vehicle Transport Pride recommends that you do not remain seated in your power chair while traveling in a moto r vehicle. The power chair sh o b e stowed in the trunk of a car or in the back of a truck or van with batteries removed and/ or properly secured.

This includes awareness of safety issues when taking prescribed or ove r-the-counter drugs or when the user has specific physical limitations.

YOUR POWER CHAIR ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS The electrical components are located inside the power base. The main circu it breaker is located on the front of the battery tray.

When the batteries and the motors are heavily strained (e .g., from excessive lo ads), the main circuit brea ker trips to prevent damage to the motors and the electronics.

ASSEMBLY Seat Installation It may be necessary to install the seat either prior to initial operation or after tr ansporting your power chair. Most seats are attached to the power base with the Uni- versal Mounting System (U MS).

28 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy 600 Series VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING BATTERIES AND CHARGING Your power chair uses two l ong-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. These batteries are sealed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, there is no need to check the electrolyte (fluid) level.

30 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy 600 Series VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING Daily Use If you use your power chair on a daily basis, charge the batteries as soon as you are finish ed using your power chair. Your power chair will be rea dy each morning to give you a full day’s service.

Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of these checks, but others require assi stance from your authori zed Pride Provider.

The body shroud has been sprayed with a clear sealant coating. You can apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance.
