Press the powe r swi tch to “ 1 ” to start the system. On the front p an el of the MGC-25 th e power indicator LED and t he LCD Display W indow flash.
3-1 3 Initial System Setup The MGC-25 requires basic configurat ion before you can start runn ing conferen ces. Initial IP Configuration The system is shipped with a d efault IP ad dress: 129.25 4.4. 8. Whe never the system is turned on, the system chec ks the IP address.

Up to 30 MGC Manager -enabled PCs can be connected to ea ch MGC-25. A si ngle MGC Manager -e nabled PC can manage multiple MGC systems.

The User Informatio n screen opens. 6. Ent er your name and the name of your company in the appropriate boxes.

The first time you run the MGC Manager applicatio n, or when a new MCU is added to your co nfiguration, you must first define each MCU’ s IP addre ss and listening port nu mber .
Chapter 3 - Initial System Setup 3-7 Defining an MCU T o define a new MCU: 1. In the Browser pane, right-click the MCU Network icon , and then click New MCU . The Add MCU dialog box opens. 2. In the Name box, enter the name of the MCU, using up to 20 characters (no comma, period or semico lo n).
MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 3-8 Connecting to an MCU Once the MCU connection parameters are defined, the M GC Manager can be connected to all defined MCUs simu ltaneously . The MGC Manager allows you to set up conferences, make reserv atio ns, monitor On Goi ng Conferences and perform other activities on severa l MCUs.

MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 3-12 DNS Server IP Address If DNS – Specify was selected, this field is mandatory . Enter the IP address of the primary DNS server to be used for name tran slation. Local Domain Name Enter the domain name where the MCU is installed.

MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 4-4 Entry Queue An Entry Queue is a spe cial routing lo bby that is us ed for routing parti cipants to their tar get c onferenc es. One or seve ral dial -in numbers are assigned t o the Entry Queue, and they are used by callers to al l conferences.

Reservation T emplates A Reservation temp late includes the conference parame ters, such as the conference med ia (audio, video), video session type, li ne rate, video protocol and oth er video parameters , IVR and more.

MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-4 Vi ewing the Conference Dial-in Properties The dial-in numbers and passw ords needed to enter a conference, including IP Network Pref ixes and Num eric ID s appear in the MGC Manager Status pane.
Chapter 5 - Basic Op eration 5-5 Connecting to a Conference/Entry Queue Defined dial-in participants can conne c t to any conferen ce by dial ing th e conferen c e dialing str ing (ISDN, H.3 23 or SIP). The MCU identifi es their CLI or IP address (as defin ed in the participant p roperties) a nd rout es them to the appropriate conference.
MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-6 For example, if the IP Network Servic e prefix is 27, th e conference Numeric ID is 1478 and the conferen ce name is ‘MARKETING’, the partic ipant can dial 271478 or 27MARKETING . IF the Entry Queue name is EQ1 and its numeric ID is 3000, the part icipant can dial 27 3000 or 27EQ1 to access the MR.

MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-8 Monitoring a Conference When you click a conferen ce icon , the co nference appear s in the Stat us pane. However , to get more details regard ing the conference and participants statuses or to moni tor several confe rences simultaneously , i t is advised to monitor the conferences in the Monitor pane.

MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-10 The conferen ce and par ticipan t details a pp ear in the Monitor pane. The S tatus and Monitor panes take the form of a table. Each row represents a conference or a participant. Each c olumn represents a parameter that is bein g monitored.
Chapter 5 - Basic Op eration 5-11 2. Expand the On Going Co nference or Reservation to list its participant s. The participants are listed belo w the conference or Reservatio n. Differe nt icons are used to indicat e th e participant roles and their connection status.

Right-click the icon of the conference to which to add a participant, a nd then click New Participant . Alternatively , click the conference icon, and then click the New Participant button on the Confe rence T oolbar .
Chapter 5 - Basic Op eration 5-15 3. In the Name box, enter the participant’ s name. 4. F or video particip ants using H.22 1 aggregation, enter the p hone numbers separated by sem icol on s. For example, for a 2B participant: 9251921; 925 1922. If using Bond ing (both numbers are the same), enter the number once.
MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-16 b. I f yo u are defining an H.323 participant: In the Parti cipant IP box, enter th e IP address of the part icipant’ s endpoint. Alternatively , in the Alias Name field, enter t he Alias of the endpoint as registered wi th the ga tekeeper and then sele ct the Alias T ype.
Chapter 5 - Basic Op eration 5-17 3. Click the Participants tab to add participants to the conference . The Pr operties - Participants dialog box opens. 4. In the Pr e-Defined Particip ants list, select the p articipants to add and then click the >> button.
MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-18 Making Dial-Out Connections When the Dia l- Out Manually option is selected fo r the conference, the operator connects the di al-out particip ants to the confer ence. Also when a participant is disc onnected from th e conference, you can reconnect the participant to the conference.
Chapter 5 - Basic Op eration 5-19 Disconnecting Particip ant s When a participant does not need to continue in a conference, you can disconnectin g or delete the part icipant. When you disc onnect a participant , the resources assigned to the participant remain alloc ated and the pa rt icipant’ s parameters re main in the sy ste m memory .
MGC-25 Getting St arted Guide 5-20 T o delete a participant: 1. In the Monitor pane, S tatus pane or Br owser pane, right-click the participant ic on, and then click Delete . Alternatively , click the Participant icon, a nd then click th e Delete button on the Participan t T oolbar .
Chapter 5 - Basic Op eration 5-21 T o mute a participant usin g MGC Manager: • In the Mon itor or the S tatus pane, ri ght-click the particip ant icon, and then click Mute Audio to mute the audio signal, or click Mute Video to mute the video signal.

For a detailed descriptio n of all parameters, see the MGC Manager User ’ s Guide V oicePlus Ed ition, Chapter 2 .

If Audio Look & Feel is set for the syst em, the conference is automatically set to Audio and all the video parameters are hidden.

Chapter 6 - Defining a New Au dio Conference 6-9 Defining a New Audio Only Meeting Room A Meeting Room is a conference reserv ation without allocated re sources, whose default duration is set t o 2 hours. A Meeting Room i s created once, and can be activat ed as many times as re quired.

The Entry Queue Pr operties dialo g box opens. 2. In the Name box, assign a name to the Entry Queue usin g up to 20 characters.

In the Entry Queue Service box se lect a predefined Entry Queue Services that will be used to play aud io messages and prompts t o participants waiting in the Entry Queue. Leave this field blank to use a default Entry Queue Service, if one is defined.

Setting an Entry Queue as Default A default En try Queue can be de fined for the MCU, regardless of the dialed IP card. The new de fault Entry Queue c an be either a video Entry Q ueue or an Audio Only En try Queue.
Chapter 7 - Defining a New Video Conference 7-5 Creating a T arget Confer ence from an Entry Queue Y ou can create a new On Going confer ence or Reservati on with the same parameters as the Entry Queue. This i s especially useful for V i deo Swi tching conferenc es, since thei r parameters must be the same as those of the Entry Queue.

In the Supported Network box, select the approp riate network types th at will be used to connect participan ts to the conference.
