8 ENGLISH PREP ARING FOR USE Machine packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. W e recommend keeping the pack aging material for possible future transport. Machine installation 1 Remove the drip tray with g rill from the packaging.
9 ENGLISH 9 5 Remove the water tank. 6 Rinse the water tank under fresh water . 7 Fill the wat er tank with fresh water up to the MA X level and reinsert it into the machine.
10 ENGLISH 12 Switch the pow er button to “I” to turn on the machine. The display shows the stand-by icon. Black Y ellow 13 T o turn on the machine, simply press the “ ” button.
11 ENGLISH 11 2 Press the “ ” button to start the cycle. The machine star ts the auto- matic priming of the circuit by dispensing some water thr ough the dispensing spout. Y ellow 3 The bar under the icon shows the operation pr ogress. When the pro- cess is completed, the machine st ops dispensing automatically .
12 ENGLISH Manual rinse cycle During this process you activate the co ee brewing cycle and fresh wat er ows through dispensing spout. This takes a few minutes. 1 Place a container under the dispensing spout. 2 Check that the machine shows this display .
13 ENGLISH 13 8 The following ic on is displayed. Green 9 Press the “ ” button t o star t dispensing hot water . Green 10 This icon is display ed. The machine reminds you to install the water dis- pensing spout. Check that it is correctly installed.
14 ENGLISH Measuring and programming wa ter hardness Measuring water hardness is very impor tant for de ning the frequency in which the machine has to be descaled and to install the “INTENZA+” water lter (for more detail on the water lter see next chapter).
15 ENGLISH 15 7 Press the “ ” button t o exit the programming menu. Green “INTENZA+” water lter installation W e recommend you to install the “INTENZA+” water lter as this prevents lime scale to build up in your machine and preserves a more intense ar oma to your espresso c o ee .
16 ENGLISH 4 Put the lter into the empty water tank. Press it until it cannot mov e further down. 5 Fill the wat er tank with fresh water and reinsert it into the machine. 6 Dispense the entire water tank by using the hot water function (see chapter “Hot water dispensing ” .
17 ENGLISH 17 Y ellow Y ellow Green 2 Press the “ ” button and scr oll the pages by pressing the “ ” but- ton until the following ic on is displayed. 3 Select the “RESET ” option. Press the “ ” button t o con rm. 4 T o exit, press the “ ” button The machine is now prog rammed to manage a new lter .
18 ENGLISH ADJUSTMENTS The machine allows f or certain adjustments so that you can brew the best tasting co ee possible. Saeco Adapting S ystem Co ee is a natural pr oduct and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast.
19 ENGLISH 19 1 Press and turn the g rinder adjustment knob one notch at a time. Y ou will taste the di erence after brewing 2-3 cups of espr esso. 2 The ref erence marks inside the co ee bean hopper indicate the grind setting.
20 ENGLISH Adjusting the dispensing spout The height of the dispensing spout can be adjusted to better t the dimen- sions of the cups that you wish to use. Move the dispensing spout up or down with your ngers to adjust its height as shown in the image.
21 ENGLISH 21 Adjusting the co ee length The machine allows y ou to adjust the amount of brewed co ee according to your taste and/or the size of y our cups. Each time the “ ” or “ ” button is pr essed, the machine brews a pr e -set amount of co ee.
22 ENGLISH ESPRESSO AND C OFFEE BREWING Before br ewing co ee, make sure that ther e are no warnings shown on the display , and that both, water tank and co ee bean hopper are lled. Espresso and co ee brewing using co ee beans 1 Place 1 or 2 cups under the dispensing spout.
23 ENGLISH 23 Espresso and co ee brewing using pre-ground co ee This function allows to use pre-ground and deca einated co ee. With the pre-ground co ee function you can only brew one co ee at a time. 1 Press the “ ” button t o select the pre -ground co ee function.
24 ENGLISH MILK CARAFE This chapter explains how to use a milk caraf e to prepare a cappuc cino or hot milk. Note: Before using the milk caraf e, clean it thoroughly as described in the “Clean- ing and Maintenance ” chapter . W e recommend to ll it with cold milk (approx.
25 ENGLISH 25 Inserting the milk carafe 1 If installed, remove the wat er dispenser as shown in the gure: - P ress the two buttons on the side to unlock it and lift it slightly; - P ull the water dispenser to remo ve it. 2 Open the milk carafe dispenser by turning it count er-clock wise until it locks into place.
26 ENGLISH Removing the milk caraf e 1 Rotate the carafe upwar ds until it releases from the insert in the drip tray . 2 Pull awa y from the machine until it is completely detached . 3 Close the milk carafe dispenser by turning it clockwise. Emptying the milk carafe 1 Press the r elease buttons to allow the lid remo val.

Wait un til the end of the cycle before remo ving the water dispenser . 1 Slightly tilt the water dispenser and then insert it all the way in into the guides in the machine.
33 ENGLISH 33 3 Place a container under the hot water dispenser . Green 4 Press the “ ” button. The following icon is display ed. 5 Press the “ ” button t o start dispensing process. 6 This icon is display ed. The machine reminds you to install the water dispenser .
34 ENGLISH Green 8 Pour the desir ed amount of hot water . T o stop the hot wat er dispens- ing process press the “ ” button. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily cleaning of the machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenanc e of your machine is v ery impor tant as it prolongs the life of y our machine.
35 ENGLISH 35 2 Empty and clean the co ee residues drawer located inside of the ma- chine. Open the service door , remove the drawer and empty the co ee residues.
36 ENGLISH Daily cleaning of the water tank 1 Remove the small white lter or the INTENZA+ water lter (if installed) from the water tank and wash it with fresh wat er . 2 Put the small white lter back or the INTENZA+ water lter (if installed) in its housing by gently pressing and turning it at the same time.
37 ENGLISH 37 W eek ly cleaning of the milk carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough as it r emoves any milk r esidues from the milk carafe dispenser . 1 Press the r elease buttons to remo ve the lid. W eek ly cleaning of the machine 1 Clean the seat of the drip tray .
38 ENGLISH 4 Remove the top and ll the milk carafe up to the M AX level with fr esh water . 5 Put the top back into the milk caraf e. Green 6 Open the milk carafe dispenser and insert the carafe into the machine. 7 Place a container under the dispensing spout.
39 ENGLISH 39 Y ellow Green 9 The following ic on is displayed during pre-heating time required by the machine. 10 Once the machine stops dispensing water , the cleaning is nished. Remove the milk caraf e and empty it. 11 Press the r elease buttons to remo ve the lid.
40 ENGLISH 14 Remove the dispenser ring (A ) from the milk carafe dispenser . 15 Press the butt on indicated with the arrow to unlock the lid . 16 Detach the lid (B) from the milk carafe dispenser b y pulling it down while slightly pressing on the sides.
41 ENGLISH 41 19 Remove the suction tube (E). 20 Clean thoroughly all the parts with lukewarm water . Note: Y ou can also clean these parts in the dishwasher . 21 Reassemble the parts following the reverse order . Note: As explained at step 13, the dispenser can only be inserted into the lid, when it is in the refer ence ( ) position.
42 ENGLISH W eek ly cleaning of the brew group The brew gr oup should be cleaned every time the co ee bean hopper is lled or at least once a week. 1 T urn o the machine by pressing the “ ” button and r emove the plug from the socket. 2 Remove the co ee gr ounds drawer .
43 ENGLISH 43 6 Let the brew g roup air-dr y thoroughly . 7 Thoroughly clean the inside of the machine using a soft, dampened cloth. 8 Make sure the brew gr oup is in the rest position; the two refer ence signs must match. If they do not match, proceed as described in step (9).
44 ENGLISH Monthly cleaning of the milk caraf e In the monthly cleaning cycle we use the “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner”to keep the entire circuit clean of milk residues . Y ou can purchase separately the “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner” . Please ref er to the maintenance products page for further details.
45 ENGLISH 45 Green Y ellow 5 Press the “ ” button. The following icon is display ed. Pr ess the “ ” button to select hot milk. 6 The following ic on is displayed during pre-heating time required by the machine. 7 Once the machine stops dispensing water , repeat steps 5 - 8 until the carafe is emptied.
46 ENGLISH 13 Once the machine stops dispensing water , repeat steps 12 -15 until carafe is emptied. 14 Remove the milk caraf e and the container from the machine. Repeat steps 10 - 16 one more time. 15 Disassemble and wash the milk carafe as described in the “Weekly cleaning of the milk carafe ” chapter .
47 ENGLISH 47 2 Lubricate the shaft too . 3 Inser t the brew gr oup in its seat until it locks into place. (see “ Weekly cleaning of the brew group ” chapter). Insert the co ee residues drawer . 4 Close the service door . Inser t the co ee grounds dra wer .
48 ENGLISH Monthly cleaning of the brew gr oup with “ Co ee Oil Remover” Besides weekly cleaning, we rec ommend running this cleaning cycle with the “Co ee Oil Remov er” after approximately 500 cups of co ee or once a month. This operation completes the maintenanc e process of the brew group .
49 ENGLISH 49 5 Press the “ ” button to start a co ee brewing cycle. 6 W ait until the machine automatically ends the dispensing process . 7 Press the “ ” button t o turn o the machine, and let the solution take e ect for approximately 15 minut es.
50 ENGLISH Y ellow Monthly cleaning of the co ee bean hopper Clean the co ee bean hopper once a month when it is empty with a damp cloth to remov e co ee oil. Thereafter re ll it with co ee beans. DESCALING The descaling process takes appr ox.
51 ENGLISH 51 2 Inser t the milk carafe empty . 3 Remove the “INTENZA+” water lter from the water tank if it was installed. 4 Press the “ ” button. P ress the “ ” button until the following display is shown. 5 Press the “ ” button to ent er the descaling menu.
