1 CHAPTER 1: Getting S t arted Welcome to the convergence of your PC with TV and video. The All-in- Wonder® X800 PCI Expre ss® Series of graphics cards add TV, Personal Video Recording, and powerful vi deo acceleration to your PC. TV-on- Demand™ and several other softwa re feat ures are incl uded to enhance your television experience.
2 System Requirements System Requirement s Before Y ou Begin Before you begin installi ng your new All-in-Wond er® X800 PCI Express® Series graphics card, please do the following. Record Y our Serial an d Part Numbers The serial number and 102 part numbe r printed on the graphics card are required for registrati on.
Before You Begin 3 Write these numbers down before installing you r new ATI product. Up date Y our PCI Expr ess® Chip set Drivers Your All-in-Wonder® X800 PCI Express® card uses the PC I Express® bus, and it requires drivers that enable the PC I Express® functionality for your motherboard’s chipset.
4 Before You Begin Uninst all Previous Graph ics Card Drivers To ensure the successful installatio n of your new All-in-Wonder® X800 PCI Express® card, you must uninst all the driv ers for the existing graphics card before removing it from your computer.
Quick Installation 5 CHAPTER 2: Inst alling Hardware This chapter will guide you through the p hysical installation of your All-in- Wonder® X800 PCI Express® card.
6 Detailed Install ation Inst allin g the Card 1 T urn off the computer , monitor, and other peripheral devices. 2 Unplug the computer ’ s power cord and disconnect all cables from the back of your computer . 3 Remove the computer cover . If n ecessary , consult your computer ’ s manual for help in removing the cover .
Detailed Installation 7 5 Unscrew or unfasten and remove any existing graphics card from your computer . 6 Locate the appropriate slot and, if necessary , remove the metal back- plate cover . 7 Align your A TI graphics card with the slot and press it in firmly un til the card is fully seated.
8 Detailed Install ation T urning on the System If you have properly installed your graphics card, operating system messages will appear once the boot procedure is finished. Your monitor will be runnin g in a basic video mode. Higher refresh rates are not available at this stage of the installation.
Input and Output Adapters 9 Input and Output Adapters Your All-in-Wonder® X800 PCI Express® uses input and output adapters that let you connect audio and vi deo devices to the card (for example, TV, VCR, or cam corder). This section outlines the configuration to use for a variety of situ ation s .
10 Input and Output Adapters W atching PC Output on a TV and Recording on a VCR Use the ATI output adapte r to connect a TV, camco rder, or VCR to your All-in-Wonder® X800 PC I Express® card, as shown. 2 Cable with S-Video plug at each end. 3 Cables with RCA plug at each en d, available separately from a consumer electronics dealer .
Input and Ou tput Adapters 1 1 W atching your PC Output on High-definition TV Use the ATI output adapter to connect a high definition TV (North America only) to your All-in-Wonder® X800 PCI Express® card , as shown. 1 T ypical VCR or ca mcorder audio and video input connectors.
12 Input and Output Adapters Comp atibility with Earl ier All-in-Wonder® Product s If you have input and output devi ces connected to an earlier All-in- Wonder® product, the input/ output adapter included with your All-in- Wonder® X800 PCI Express® card lets you easily reattach those devices.
Input and Ou tput Adapters 1 3 Using the SCART Connector SCART is an acronym for “Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radiorécepteurs et Téléviseurs”. SCAR T is an analog 21-pin connector used mainly in Europe for transferring audio and vid e o si gnal s between 1 A TI input adapter used with earlier All-in-Wonder® products.
14 Input and Output Adapters VCRs, DVD players, personal computers, and set-top boxes. It is sometimes refe rred to as Pé ritel or the Euroconnector. Your All-in-Wonder® X800 PCI Expres s® comes with a SCART adaptor for connecting to compatib le equipment as shown .

16 HydraVision™ Multi-monitor Manag ement 2 Run the AT I S E T U P uti lity . The AT I S E T U P utili ty will start automatically if you insert the A TI Installat ion CD-ROM into your CD- ROM drive after the operating system has started.

Displays Manag er 21 Displays Manager The Displays Manager aspect is the central location for configuring your display devices and arranging your desktop. Use the Displa ys Manager aspect to quickly change you r display setup, arrange your deskt op in a multi-moni tor environment, and enable TV Out.

Video 23 Vi d eo Use the Video aspect to use preconfig ured profiles that best match your viewing environment. Switch to the Advanced view to manually adjust video overlay and choose a preferred view ing mode, such as Widescreen or Fullscreen modes. 24 Monitor Properties Monitor Properties Use the Monitor Properties aspect to configure your Display Data Channel (DDC) monitor’s attribut es, to di splay information about th e connected monitor, and adjust the out put di sp lay’s position and size.
Hotkeys Manager 25 Note: Catalyst™ Control C enter loads aspects dynamically based on what device is attached to the graphics card. If you hav e standard display device such as a CR T monit or or flat panel display Monitor Properties will appear instead of Digital Panel Pr operties .

Using TV Out 29 CHAPTER 5: Using TV Display and Capture Features Using TV Out Your All-in-Wonder® X800 PCI Express® has TV Out capability. It also supports YPbPr component vid e o out put. For European customers, SCART- out is supported and included on the Inp ut/ Out put connector.
30 Using TV Out During start up, your Al l-in-Wonder® X80 0 PCI Express® will go thro ugh a sequence of mode settings, during which your TV display will remain blank . This process takes only a few seconds and programs the TV display. T o enable or disable the TV display 1 Access the W indows® Control Panel .
Using TV Out 31 Adjusting Monitor Display The size of the display on your monito r may become smaller and no t perfectly centered when you have TV display en abled. These effects are caused by the changes your All-in-Wo nder® X800 PCI Express® makes in order to render your desktop display on a TV screen.

33 CHAPTER 6: Using Multiple Displays This chapter describes how to attach multipl e moni tors to your All-in- Wonder® X800 PCI Express® card, as we ll as the allowable multi-display configurations.
34 T o connect your monitors 1 Tu r n o f f y our computer and moni tors. 2 Plug the monitor cables into th eir appropriate connectors. 3 Tu r n o n your monitors first, and then restart you r com puter so that W indows® can detect the new hardware settings.

40 Troubleshooting No Display • Check that the card is seated properly in its expansion slot. • Ensure that the monitor cable is securely fastened to the card. • Make sure that the monitor and computer are plugg ed in and receiving power . • If necessary , disable any bui lt-in graphics capabilities on your mother board.
