1 Chapter 1 Introduction Overview The IP8000 is a PCI card implementation of a control unit that provides “over- IP” access and control of the se rver it is installed in.

1. Introduction 3 System Requirement s General For best results we recommend that the computers used to access the IP8000 contro l unit have at least a P III 1 GHz processor, and that the screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768. Browsers must support 128-bit SSL data encrypti on.
IP8000 User Manual 4 Cables T wo cable sets are provided with this package: a KVM cable set to link the IP8000 to a server; and a feature cable to link the IP80 00 to the mainboard power control header . Note: Only cable sets specifically designed to work with the IP8000 may be used for the above purpo ses.

7 Chapter 2 Hardware Setup Before Y ou Begin Basic Inst allation After installing the IP80 00 into any available PCI sl ot on the server ’ s mainboard, refer to the installation diagram below (the diagram num bers correspond to the step numbers), and do the following: 1.

Plug the LAN or W AN cable into the IP800 0's LAN port . 5. Plug the power adapter cable into th e IP80 00's pow er jack, then plug the power adapter into an AC power source.
2. Hardware Setup 9 Feature Cable Inst allation The feature cable provides th e ability to perform remote power on /off and reset operations. The cable plugs into a header block located at the upper right of the card. The block contains two rows of pins.

11 Chapter 3 Browser Login The IP8000 can be accessed either from an internet type browser, or via stand-alone Windows an d Java appli cations. The next several chapters describe bro ws er-based oper ations. Sta nd-alone AP operation is discussed in Chapter 9.

17 Chapter 4 Administration Introduction The administration utili ties, represented by the icons located across the top of the IP8000 web page, are used to configure the IP8000’s operating environment. This chapter discusses each of them in turn. Note: 1.
IP8000 User Manual 18 General The General page is the first of the Administration pages, and pro vid es information about the IP8000's status. An explanation of each of the screen items is given .
Chapter 4. Administration 19 Network The Network dialog is used to specify the IP8000's network enviro nment. Access Port s If a firewall is being used, the A dminist rator can specify the port numbers that the firewall will allow.
IP8000 User Manual 20 IP Address The IP8000 can either have its IP address assigned dynam icall y at boot up (DHCP), or it can be gi ven a fixed IP address. For dynamic IP address assignment, select the Obtain an IP address automatically , radio button.
Chapter 4. Administration 21 Security The Security page contro ls access to the IP8000. Overview IP and MAC Filters control access to the IP8000 based on the IP and/or MAC addresses of the computers atte mpting to access the system. If any filters have been configured, they appear in the IP Filter and/or MAC Filter list boxes.
IP8000 User Manual 22 Filtering To enable IP and/ or MAC filtering, Click to put a check mark in the IP Filter Enable and/or MAC Filter Enable checkbox. There ar e a maximum of 100 filters allowed for each. If the includ e button is checked, all the addres ses within the filter range are allowed access; all other addresses are denied access.
Chapter 4. Administration 23 To delete a filter, select it and Click Remove . To modify a filter, select it and Click Edit . The Edit dialog box is similar to th e Add dialog box. When it come s up, simply delete the old address and replace it with the new one.
IP8000 User Manual 24 ANMS The Advanced Network Management Settings dialog box allows you to set up login authorization managem ent from a external sources. It is divided into three main panels, as describ ed, below: RADIUS Settings To allow authorization for the IP8000 through a RA DIUS server, do the following: 1.

Chapter 4. Administration 27 User Management The User Management dialog box is used to create and manage user profiles. Up to 64 user profiles can be established. T o add a user profile, fill in the information asked for in the User Info panel and click Add .

IP8000 User Manual 40 Virtual Media The IP8000’s virtual media featur e allows a USB 2.0 device (Floppy drive, CDROM, Flash Drive, etc.), or an image file, on a user’s system, to appear, and act, as if it were installed on the remote server. To implement this redirection feat ure, do th e following: 1.

Appendix 85 Administrator Login Failure If you are unable to perform an Admini strator login to the IP8000 (because the Username and Password information has become corrupt ed, or you have forgotten it, for example), th ere is a procedu re you can use to clear the login information.
