BEFORE Y OU BEGIN 3 About Caller Identification (Caller ID) This product has a Caller ID with Call W aiting f eature that works with ser vice from your local phone service provider . Caller ID with Call W aiting lets you see who’ s calling before y ou answer the phone, even when y ou’ re on another call.
INST ALLA TION 4 Befor e Y ou Install 1 Choose a location for the base near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. This phone requires a modular telephone jac k and a standard electrical outlet (110v AC) not contr olled b y a wall switc h. 2 Install the handset battery.
INST ALL A TION 5 3 Attach belt clip to the cordless handset (optional) . T o attach T o remo ve T ab le/Desk Installation Standard electrical outlet Modular telephone jack 1 Connect the telephone line cord.
INST ALLA TION 6 3 Char ge the handset battery. Place the handset in the base. Charge the battery for at least 16 hours the first time. 4 Check for dial tone. After the batteries are charg ed, pick up the handset and press P ; you should hear a dial tone.
INST ALLA TION 7 a) Align holes on base with mounting studs on wall jack. b) Place power cord as shown, so it hangs straight down between base and wall. c) Pull base down on mounting studs until it locks into place. 5 Follow Steps 3–5 in T able/Desk Installation.
Time/Date 1 Press G until the screen displays 2 Press S . The month f lashes. 3 Use < or > to select the current month. 4 Press S . 5 Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to set the day , hour , minute and AM or PM. Ringer Selection 1 Press G until the scr een displays 2 Press > to select 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , or OFF .
TELEPHONE OPERA TION 9 End a Call Press O — OR — Place handset in base Exit progr amming. Cancel a page. Handset V olume While on a call, adjust volume of what y ou hear . Hold Press to put a call on hold. Press again to release hold, or lift the handset of an e xtension.
TELEPHONE OPERA TION 10 Page/ Handset Locator Pr ess to page the handset for up to 90 seconds. Pr ess a gain to cancel, or pr ess any key on handset. On steadily when handset is in use or is charging in base On steadily when y ou have unr eviewed call inf ormation.
TELEPHONE OPERA TION 11 T emporar y T one Dialing If you hav e dial pulse (rotar y) ser vice, you can chang e from dial pulse to touch tone dialing during a call by pressing * . This is useful if you need to send touch tone signals f or access to telephone banking or long-distance ser vices.
TELEPHONE OPERA TION 12 Displa y Screen Messages Screen Displa ys: When: STANDBY The handset is not in use. NO LINE The base is not connected to the telephone line, or the line is not wor king. RINGING There is a call coming in. CONNECTING The handset is waiting f or a dial tone.
TELEPHONE MEMOR Y 13 This cordless phone can store 50 telephone numbers with names, eac h up to 16 digits long. Stor e Memor y Numbers 1 Mak e sure the handset is off. 2 Press M . The first available location is display ed in the lower right cor ner of the screen.
Edit Numbers Stor ed in Memor y 1 Press < to r e view numbers stored in memor y . 2 Press S when the screen displa ys the number you want to edit. EDIT f lashes on the screen. 3 Edit the name/number display ed. Press > to switc h between name and number .
Dial Memor y Numbers 1 Press P . 2 Press M , then enter the memory location (01-50) — OR — 1 Press < under the phonebook icon ( ) to review numbers stored in memor y . 2 Press < or > until the screen displa ys the number you want to call, or enter the first letter of the name stored with the number .
C ALLER ID OPERA TION 16 About Call Histor y This phone assigns each incoming call a number fr om 1 to 50. The most recent call will hav e the highest number . When the memor y is full, the oldest call information is deleted to make room f or new incoming call information.
C ALLER ID OPERA TION 17 Delete Call Histor y Delete a Specific Call 1 Press > until the scr een displays the call information you want to delete. 2 Press S , then pr ess > until DEL is f lashing. 3 Press S , then pr ess < or > until the screen displays DELETE? YES .
C ALLER ID OPERA TION 18 Stor e Call in Memor y 1 Press > until the scr een displays the call information you want to store. 2 Press S twice. 3 Press S to store the call inf ormation in the memor y location display ed in the upper r ight corner — OR — Press < , then enter a tw o-dig it memor y location (01-50).
C ALLER ID OPERA TION 19 Call Block This featur e works with service available from your phone service provider to prevent y our call information from being seen by the people you call. T o activate call block service, you must enter y our ser vice provider’ s call block code eac h time you make a call.
Displa y Screen Messages Screen Displa ys: When: PRIVATE NAME The other par ty is blocking name inf or mation. PPP The other party is blocking number inf or mation. PRIVATE CALLER The other party is blocking name and number information. UNKNOWN NAME Y our phone company is unable to receiv e information about this caller’ s name.
Char ging the Handset Ba tter y P ack This batter y should remain charg ed up to six days with the ringer turned on and up to 12 days with the ring er of f. A fully charg ed batter y provides an aver a ge talk time of about fiv e hour s. The batter y pack needs charging when: • A new batter y is installed in the handset.
BA TTERIES 22 Nickel-Cadmium Rechargeable Batteries m ust be recycled or disposed of properl y . Do not dispose of in household garbage. If burned, it could e xplode. If punctured, it could r elease caustic mater ial which could injure the skin or eyes.
