14 Camera Features In addition to basic picture-taking, the X90 has a variety of shooting modes to suit different situations. This secti on desc ribes how to make the most of the key features of your camera. Together w ith the explanations of camera operations, it will enable you to enjoy your cam era to the f ull.
15 The X90 com es with a “Face Dete ction” func tion that spot s the faces in your sho t and auto maticall y adjusts t he focus and expo sure for the faces. I t can dete ct up to 32 people p er shot (*), s o it will h elp you t ake perfect g roup shots too.

35 1 Getting Started Use of the optional AC adapter k it (K-AC106) is recommende d if you intend to use the c amera for a l ong time o r connect it to a comp uter. 1 Make su re that the c amera is t urned off an d open the battery /card cove r. 2 Remove the battery .

37 1 Getting Started Instal ling the SD Memory Card This camera uses either an SD Memory Card or an SDHC Memo ry Card. (Both card s are referred to as SD Memory Cards h ereafter.) Capture d images are save d on the SD Mem ory Card if a card is ins erted in t he camera.

Slide the battery/car d cover lock lever in the di rection of the ar row to open the cover ( 1 ). 2 Insert the SD Me mory Card into the SD Me mory Card socket so that the lab el is facing tow ard the front of the camera (the side with the lens).
39 1 Getting Started Precautio ns When Using an SD Memor y Card • The SD Mem ory Card is equipped wit h a write- protect switch. S etting the switch to LOCK prevents new data from being recorded on the card, the stored data from being delet ed, and the card from being formatted by the ca mera or computer.
40 1 Getting Started The file size of the record ed images differs de pending o n the num ber of recorded pixels of th e images, s o the number of images th at can be saved o n an SD Memory Card also differs. Choose the ap propriate nu mber of recorde d pixels for stil l pictures on the [ A Rec.
41 1 Getting Started Turning the Camera On and Off 1 Remove the lens ca p. 2 Press t he power switch. The came ra turns on a nd the display turns on. When you turn th e camera on, the l ens will extend. (Th e lens will not extend if the initial sett ings have not been confi gured.
