C1696M-A (7/08) 9 Getting Started This manual d escribes how to operate the DVR5100 to view and record liv e video, sear ch for recorde d video and mark or lock it f or future use, and to operate or adjust cameras.

12 C1696M-A (7/08) Understanding DVR5100 Controls and Menus The DVR5100 is menu-driven an d you can op erate the un it using any of the following options: • USB PC keyboard and mouse: A USB P C keyb oard and mouse are now pr ovid ed to operate the DVR5100, wh ich is the easiest means to operate t he unit.

22 C1696M-A (7/08) MOVING THROUGH THE CAMERA SEQUENCE Although a camera is display ed in a specific video pane, you can quickly cycle through the list of c ameras in the se quence. T o sequence through the list of cameras: 1. Select the vi deo pane dis playing the de sired camera.

24 C1696M-A (7/08) PTZ Operations REPOSITIONING A CAMERA WITH PTZ CAPABILITIES If you have a camera that supp or ts PTZ operations, you can repositi on the camera with the keyboard [or the Joystick ]. NOTE : With a mouse, you can re positio n a camera in both live view and PTZ mode (the camera must supp ort PTZ).

30 C1696M-A (7/08) COMMANDS AND FEATURES The Quick Sear ch dialog box c ontains the foll owing commands and features: T ime line: Units of time increase or d ecrease between mo nths and days, days and ho urs, hours and min utes, or minute s and seconds.
C1696M-A (7/08) 31 ENHANCED SEARCH Use the Enhance d Search dialog box to search for reco rded video based on the following sear ch criteria: • T ime Range: Allows you to enter a time range to search fo r video.

34 C1696M-A (7/08) CHANGING THE PLAYBACK SP EED FOR RECORDED V IDEO While playing b ack recorded video, you ca n play the vide o at several speeds in ei ther a fast-fo rward or fast -reverse dire ction. T o change the p layback speed for recorded v ideo: 1.

C1696M-A (7/08) 39 CAPTURING A SNAPSH OT (STILL IMAGE) All snapshots ar e saved in a defaul t folder called “images,” whic h is created automatically on a USB device. Y ou must attach a USB device to the DVR5100 before you capture a sn apshot. If a USB d evice is not attached, an er ror message appears and the snapshot is no t saved.
40 C1696M-A (7/08) W orking With Alarms Each time an alarm occurs, the DVR5 10 0 displays an Alarm Received dialog box, which allows you to respond i mmediately to th e ev ent or elect to have th e alarm eve nt snoozed for a speci fied amount o f time.

The Alarm Received dialog box is closed and the snooze action is recorded in the system log. After a delay , the alar m notification reappears with a clock icon indicating tha t the alarm was previously snoo zed.

ACCESSING CAMERA MENUS Many settin gs for diff erent cameras can be progra mmed to fit you r specific need s. Y ou can disp lay menus and adjust camera se tti ngs from the DVR5100 if your user role has permissions to do so.

A re lay can b e activated for a predeter mined period o f time (th e dwell time) or can remain latched until there is another signal t o re lease the relay .
