P ress open the receiv er ’s FRONT SPEAKERS R (+) red lever a nd insert the ridged or color-code d conductor ’ s end into the small hole.

Note: If your ant enna has 300 Ω twin-lead cable, c onsult your local RadioShac k store for the c orrect adap ter .

14 Pre pari ng Your Re cei ver Using the AC Power O utlet Y our receiver has an AC power outlet that you can use to power an electronic device , such as a turntable, cassette deck, VCR , and so on. This switched out- let turns on and of f with t he receiver and provides a maximum of 100 W atts.

16 Bas ic Op er ati on T un ing the Ra dio Y our receiver has four types of electronic tuning — manual , automatic, direct access, and memory . Ma nu al a n d Au to mat i c T u nin g Follo w these steps to manually or automati cally tune to stations.
1 7 Ba sic Op erat ion Me mo ry T uni ng Mem ory tunin g lets you store up to 30 AM or FM frequencies in three different classes (10 fr equenc ies in ea ch class) , then quickly tune t o a c lass and station. Follo w these steps to store a station i n a memory location using the front panel controls.

T o silence the speakers and listen with head phones without di sturbing others , press SPEAKER so only SP appears on t he display .
1 9 Cas sette Deck/V CR Featu res Y ou ca n connect two cas sette dec ks to the receiver . S electing e ither VCR/T APE 1 or T APE 2 MO NITOR lets you hear the playback from the cassette deck yo u con- nected to the receiver ’s correspond ing ( VCR/T APE 1 or T APE 2 MONITO R ) jacks.

2 2 Us ing A dva nced So und Op ti ons S o und Mode Adj ustme nts ( Rem ote Con trol Only) Cent er Mode Sett ing The center m ode setting affects the center channel’s bass signals. It operates only when you select the Dolby Pro Logic Surroun d or Dolby 3CH Logic mode.
2 3 Us ing A dvance d So und Opt ion s Delay T ime In the Dolby Pro Logic Surround mode s ( PR O LO GIC , THEATE R 1 , and THE- ATER 2 ), the receiver slightly dela ys the soun d going to the rear speakers. Y ou can chan ge this delay time from 15 to 30 milliseconds (ms) in 5 ms steps.
2 4 Usin g the Rem ote C ontrol The remote control works up to a dist an ce of about 23 feet, and within a 30- degree angle on either side of the receiver . Point the control at the re ceiver ’s front panel and press the desired button(s). Many but tons on t he remote con trol work the same as buttons on t he receiver ’s front pan el.
